eBay's tools for managing overdue buyers will be available to everyone starting in early April

Foreign media reported that eBay renamed its "Unpaid Item Assistant" to "Item Preferences Awaiting Payment". Previously, this feature was only available to big sellers, but from the beginning of April this feature will be open to everyone.

“If you attempt to file an unpaid item case in Resolution Center after this update goes into effect, you will be automatically redirected to Seller Central to cancel the transaction directly using the ‘Buyer Did Not Pay’ reason,” eBay noted.

eBay said: "Starting in early April 2021, we will begin introducing new cancellation capabilities for unpaid items. Sellers will no longer need to submit unpaid item claims or send payment reminders. Instead, we will proactively remind buyers if there is a payment due, and sellers will be able to cancel the order manually or automatically if the buyer still has not paid after 5 calendar days."

Unpaid item claims do not actually provide any real benefit to the seller, but they can remind buyers to pay. In fact, sellers will receive a "You've won" message when the auction ends . In addition, if the buyer logs into eBay and pays for any unpaid items, they will receive a "You've won" message. Many sellers will file automatic unpaid item claims. For most fixed-price transactions, the payment will be sent to the buyer and seller with the order, but once the order can be canceled automatically or manually, sellers don't have to wait any longer.

Sellers can cancel an order after 5 days if:

1. The buyer promises to purchase the item;

2. The buyer wins the auction;

3. The buyer accepts the seller's offer;

4. The seller accepted the buyer’s best offer.

eBay said in Seller Central that starting March 3, sellers can open a UPI case the next day, and eBay will give buyers four days to pay. If they don't pay, the seller can close the case on the sixth day. The new cancellation process will allow sellers to cancel orders on the fifth day, one day earlier than today .

One seller said that he didn’t care if the process was faster, he just wanted eBay to close the loophole and no longer allow buyers to submit INR (goods not received) without payment. Another seller replied: “Agreed, please also automatically include FVF!”
