Allegro's sales increased by 61% in the first quarter of this year, and its net profit reached 270 million zlotys

According to foreign media reports, Polish e-commerce platform Allegro recently released its first quarter financial report this year. The report showed that Allegro 's net profit in the first quarter of this year was 270 million zlotys , slightly higher than analysts' previous forecast ( 234 million zlotys ) .

The company said that the lockdown measures implemented by the new crown epidemic forced people to live at home. In order to demand a safe way to shop, most residents chose online shopping, which promoted the growth of online sales. Total sales in the first quarter of this year increased by 61% to 1.21 billion zlotys .

However, as more and more Poles are vaccinated, some people will choose to shop in physical stores. Online sales are expected to fluctuate this year, and the growth rate will decline. Full-year sales growth is expected to be less than 30%. But Allegro hopes to retain customers through cheap and free delivery services and a wide variety of products .

It is reported that Allegro is the most popular e-commerce platform in Poland. It was founded by Poles themselves in 1999. 75% of Poles know the website. Allegro's brand awareness in Poland is as high as 98%, and it is called the Polish version of eBay. It is reported that more than 1.2 million products are sold on the Allegro platform every day , of which 90% are new products .

Moreover, Poland's e-commerce market has huge potential. According to a recent report by consulting firm PwC , Poland's e-shopping market sales reached about 83 billion zlotys last year, an increase of 36% from 2019. This is equivalent to 14% of Poland 's total retail sales last year . Moreover , Poland's e-commerce market is now expected to grow at an average rate of 12% per year , reaching 162 billion zlotys (36 billion euros) by 2026.

The Polish e-commerce market has broad prospects, attracting many e-commerce platforms. E-commerce giant Amazon is not to be outdone. It has established the Amazon.pl site early and built parcel lockers everywhere . Allegro is facing increasingly fierce competition . However, the company downplayed the risk, saying that it has not been affected too much by Amazon.

According to a report by market research firm Gemius, 80% of respondents consider the Allegro platform as their preferred platform for e-commerce shopping .

Allegro 's Chief Financial Officer Jon Eastick also revealed: We plan to expand internationally through potential acquisitions . Going international is an important expansion path for Allegro. We are interested in finding corporate projects that can help us with mergers and acquisitions, and we analyze such projects regularly .

If you have not yet entered Allegro, you must seize the opportunity and grab the large Polish market.
