The shopping trends on social platforms in 2022 are released!

As people in various countries and regions use social platforms more and more frequently, such platforms not only transmit and share relevant information, but also play a marketing role, which provides new connection channels for many buyers and sellers. Common social platforms include Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube.

Recently, Bazaarvoice released a survey result, and the results show that the trend of shopping on social platforms has become increasingly obvious.

The survey showed that 70 % of shoppers discover products on Facebook and Instagram , and 50% agree or strongly agree that social media plays a positive role in influencing the products they choose to buy , but 24% disagree with this statement.

The survey found that comprehensive product descriptions , professional product photos , shoppers ' ratings and reviews , professional product videos , and shoppers ' product photos ranked among the top five factors influencing consumer purchases on social platforms, with video content in particular playing a big role.

In terms of purchase categories, clothing and beauty products top the shopping list.

Three-quarters of consumers surveyed said their shopping behavior is heavily influenced by social media. 65% use it for inspiration, 61% buy something when they stumble across it, and 60% buy directly from a recommendation or link from someone they “follow.”

Data shows that brands directly influence about 60% of shoppers, while friends and family influence 55% of buyers . In the survey, less than half of people use social media to collect information . Another 60% of respondents will make purchases based on recommendations from influencers .

With one in two shoppers purchasing via social media in the past year and a market expected to reach $1.2 trillion by 2025 , this shopping model is unlocking new ways of buying and selling.

This particular survey was conducted between December 2021 and January 2022, surveying more than 14,000 consumers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France and Germany .

In addition, Bazaarvoice's survey also shows that visual content, AR and VR shopping experiences are further triggering consumers' purchasing interest.

Sellers who sell products on social platforms can pay more attention to such trends and make adjustments to their sales strategies.
