Good news! Amazon offers new shipping discounts to sellers

Recently, Amazon US announced that Amazon's "Buy Shipping" service now offers the Amazon Sponsored Discount feature. Amazon said that through this method, sellers can choose a more reliable and faster transportation method.

The "Buy Shipping" service is Amazon's service for sellers to ship online. Sellers can purchase logistics and delivery services directly from logistics carriers and print shipping labels through the seller platform or by using the "Buy Shipping" service API.

The Buy Shipping service automatically screens shipping options (carriers and delivery methods) that can deliver on time and meet Amazon's shipping requirements (such as delivery time, tracking, and customs clearance), ensuring that sellers' orders comply with Amazon's delivery policies.

When sellers use the "Buy Shipping" service, they can see that the shipping methods that offer preferential prices will have a blue badge that says "Amazon Sponsored Discount" and the original price and discounted price will be displayed next to it.

If you confirm your order through Seller Central, you can now see the discounted price; if you connect through the Buy Shipping API, you must call the Get Eligible Shipping Services API (GESS) to view the discounted price.

Many sellers said this was great news, hoping it would be effective for a long time, and tried this feature. However, some sellers soon discovered some problems.

First of all, the statement in its announcement that "the discount level is determined by Amazon at its sole discretion and may not apply to every shipment" has been criticized by sellers.

Some sellers said that it was an Amazon announcement, why couldn’t the discount be clearly marked, but rather had to be checked like a lottery ticket to see how big a prize you won? Another seller pointed out that “may not apply to every shipment” does this mean that these discounts are only available to certain sellers or certain products?

In addition, after testing, the seller found that this offer only applies to single orders and does not apply to bulk shipments.

But in any case, for this new feature, sellers might as well test it now to see if it is useful to them.
