Last year, Amazon closed its stores due to a massive data leak from fake order companies. Many big sellers were trapped in the quagmire and had to stop work, lay off employees, or even sell assets. But now, the smoke of war has not yet cleared. Fake order agencies, led by AMZTigers and TesterJob, have been sued by Amazon one after another...
Two major fake order companies were sued, and sellers said: Will store closures happen again?
Recently, Amazon and law enforcement agencies jointly sued AMZTigers (UK) and TesterJob (Spain) for creating false positive reviews through posting reviews, brushing orders and reviews, and helping sellers improve product rankings and conversion rates . These two companies are very likely to face penalties such as imprisonment, fines or confiscation of assets .
The reason why this incident was exposed was also " coincidental ", which was reported by an internal employee of TesterJob. The whistleblower said that many staff members purchased designated goods as required, but the sellers did not reimburse the purchase costs of the goods, nor did they pay the review fees for fake orders. Since they could not contact the sellers , they took the way of reporting. However, some industry insiders speculated that Amazon had already targeted these companies, and the internal employee's report further proved the fact.
Amazon traced the source of fake orders and singled out two major review service providers, which also made the hidden worries and troubles in the industry surface.
Just looking at AMZTigers, which was hacked this time , there are nearly 62,000 reviewers in various sites in various regions around the world , and there are 2,000 reviewers in the UK alone . They achieve the purpose of long-term survival by manipulating buyer accounts and using free products to attract consumers to participate in false reviews.
According to reports, the fee for such fake reviews is 15 euros per post, and it will be much cheaper if the seller purchases the relevant package. In order to increase the authenticity of the reviews, the fake review company will also mix reviews of different star ratings together, which is very "particular".
But the reality is that this phenomenon of fake reviews is not compliant and seriously violates the rules of Amazon's search rankings, and has been severely cracked down by Amazon. Last year, the data leak of the fake order company that caused a sensation in the cross-border circle triggered Amazon to close its stores. The incident in which many top Chinese sellers were affected has left many sellers with lingering fears.
Based on this situation, some industry insiders speculated, "Will history repeat itself? Will the rating companies once again become the fuse that triggers Amazon's store closures?"
Sellers are polarized on how the situation develops ↓
Some sellers are concerned, saying that the number of accounts involved in the fraudulent order companies leaked last year was as high as 200,000. Considering that the number of accounts involved in the AMZTigers case is now more than 60,000, many companies have not yet been exposed. However, judging from the situation, Amazon has not stopped its rectification efforts, and these fraudulent order companies will not be able to escape. At least 2-3 more fraudulent order companies will be exposed in the future.
Some sellers are optimistic, saying that as long as Amazon does not continue to dig deeper, the matter will end here, and the order-brushing companies will not be stupid enough to expose themselves one by one.
So far, Amazon has never stopped its crackdown on fake reviews. No matter how the situation will develop in the future, the fact that fake reviews are purchased by fake companies and sellers have violated the rules of the Amazon platform and are not allowed. The editor also reminds all sellers here not to take the chance and test the law, otherwise it is very likely to lose both the wife and the army. In the daily operation process, sellers must always be vigilant, operate in compliance, and not touch the red line of the platform.
Billion-dollar sellers were questioned, and they "proved their innocence" by not making fake orders
When it comes to the issue of fake orders, it is not only small and medium-sized sellers who are often involved. Some large sellers may also be questioned about "whether they have engaged in fake orders" for various reasons.
As a billion-dollar company whose main business is the research and development, production and sales of air power equipment and cleaning equipment, Oushen Electric suspended its listing review in September last year and resumed its listing review only after completing the update of financial information in December.
In the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's second round of review inquiry letter regarding Ousheng Electric's application for listing on the Growth Enterprise Market, questions were raised as to whether Ousheng Electric had engaged in false orders or false machines, and it was asked to explain whether the sales revenue on the e-commerce platform was true and accurate.
Subsequently, Ousheng Electric analyzed the purchase quantity and delivery addresses of Amazon platform users , verified the buyer ID and email address , and checked the repetition of users' purchases , and concluded that there was no single user who had placed false orders on the Amazon platform.
Although Ousheng Electric has "proven" through data and verification that it has not engaged in false ordering on the Amazon platform, it has also disclosed that its future e-commerce platform business will not rely solely on Amazon, but will vigorously expand sales on other platforms.
A large number of sellers are rushing to Walmart. Will Amazon's position be shaken?
Indeed, after experiencing the account suspension wave last year, a large number of sellers have begun to rush to new platforms, and Walmart is one of the choices of many sellers. It is understood that Oushen Electric has also long been deployed in Walmart and has become a supplier of Walmart.
Data from market research firm Marketplace Pulse shows that since Walmart began recruiting merchants in March last year, as of January this year, the platform has added about 8,000 Chinese sellers. The number of new sellers has increased visibly, and data shows that by the end of last year, the number of sellers from China accounted for one-seventh of the total number of merchants.
As more and more sellers flock to Walmart, some doubts are coming from the industry. Some sellers are worried that now all these sellers are rushing in, product competition is getting more and more intense, but Walmart has not been particularly strict about the problem of fake orders and false reviews. Will Walmart also crack down on sellers like Amazon in the future?
In response, Walmart also stated that in order to detect false reviews, the platform uses internal processes, independent third-party suppliers and other methods, and deletes them once discovered, but due to the huge number, it is impossible to clean them up completely.
In fact, in addition to Walmart, AliExpress, Newegg , etc. are also alternative platforms in the minds of many sellers. However, AliExpress has also made it clear that in order to prevent sellers from violating the platform requirements, the platform has formulated strict policies and measures.
Although Walmart's position in North America has closely followed Amazon, at present, the Amazon platform is still the "main battlefield" for many sellers and has an unsurpassed position. It is not difficult to see from Amazon's official data that the number of new Chinese sellers on Amazon's global sites has continued to grow in the past year. Amazon Fake orders Big Sell |
