Etsy and TikTok collaborate to bring new opportunities for sellers!

TikTok's ability to attract traffic and bring goods is well known, and many sellers have begun to seize the opportunity and catch up. Recently, Etsy announced a partnership with TikTok to provide platform sellers with more communication opportunities and training opportunities, thereby further improving the sellers' promotion capabilities. TikTok is called by Etsy as " a unique and powerful marketing channel for small businesses ."

 

However, some sellers have reservations about the cooperation opportunities that many people are optimistic about. They said that it would take a lot of time and investment to get returns from TikTok, and there would be difficulties and challenges in screening the content on the platform.


 

Data shows that 10% of sellers on the Etsy platform currently use TikTok to promote their products. As a well-known American e-commerce platform, Etsy mainly features handmade products. TikTok is at the forefront of social e-commerce platforms. The cooperation between the two will make Etsy's advantages more obvious to other similar e-commerce platforms.

 

Public data shows that Etsy's revenue in the third quarter of 2021 reached US$532.4 million, a year-on-year increase of 17.93%. Its profit was US$89.93 million, a year-on-year decrease of 2%. Its total merchandise sales reached US$3.1 billion, and the number of new buyers was 7 million.

 

From the above data, Etsy's financial and market data are further growing, and its performance is outstanding. But since the outbreak, the platform has also faced many problems. However, compared with other e-commerce platforms, Etsy is relatively calm about the supply problem.


Previously, Etsy said that 90% of the sellers on the platform purchase goods locally (from their own country or region), which means that the impact of supply chain problems has not expanded on the platform.

 

After solving the supply chain problem, Etsy will naturally focus more on the sales of the platform. At this time, the cooperation with TikTok is in line with the next development direction. TikTok currently has more than 1 billion monthly active users . With such a large group, the effect of attracting traffic from it can be imagined.

 

But as some sellers have said, it takes a lot of time and investment, and the conversion of traffic still depends on the sellers themselves.
