Domestic children's trucks recalled due to lead poisoning risk

Toys are the first choice for many consumers to prepare gifts for children. During this holiday shopping season, many sellers in the toy industry have made a lot of money, and children have been overwhelmed with gifts. When choosing children's products, in addition to fun, product quality and safety are also very important. Recently, another children's product has been in trouble ...

On January 6, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of a children's toy. The recalled product is a children's wooden truck sold by Colony Brands. The recall number is 22-715. The product picture is as follows:

The product is reportedly made in China and is a children's wooden wagon with a red and white metal frame and black handles and wheels. The wagon has a capacity of 150 pounds and is equipped with a red plastic cover. The batch number 210503SSM is also printed on the bottom of the wagon.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the paint on the wooden cart, plastic handle and red plastic cover of the product exceeded the maximum allowed lead content. Children who come into contact with these paints while playing may suffer from lead poisoning or other health problems due to excessive lead ingestion.

The product was sold at Montgomery Ward and Ginny's retail stores and online at Wards.com and Ginnys.com from September to October 2021 for about $100. About 20 units were sold during that time. To date, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has not received any reports of injuries from the product.

Consumers should immediately stop using the product with children and contact the retailer to return the product for a full refund. The retailer is also contacting all known purchasers to arrange returns and provide prepaid shipping labels and return instructions to consumers.

Children are a vulnerable group and lack certain risk avoidance capabilities. Therefore, the safety of their products has always been taken seriously by various countries. Once a product is recalled due to safety issues, the economic losses to the seller are immeasurable. When producing, sellers must understand the product safety laws and regulations of relevant regions in detail to avoid the risk of product recalls.
