Global tablet computer growth stagnated in the third quarter, but consumer demand increased instead of decreasing!

 

With the development of technology, the functions of tablet computers have become more mature. Especially after the epidemic, teaching and office work are mainly online. Hybrid work and online learning continue to drive high demand for mobile computing devices.

 

Compared with mobile phones and computers, tablets have the advantages of larger screens and smaller size, which makes them popular among many students and white-collar workers. Therefore, the demand for tablets has shown explosive growth.

 

According to a previous report from Strategy Analytics, as of the second quarter of 2021, global tablet shipments increased by 5% year-on-year, achieving five consecutive quarters of growth.

 

However, in the latest report from Strategy Analytics, tablet growth stagnated in the third quarter of 2021, with shipments down 10% year-on-year. However, consumer demand for tablets has increased instead of decreased, and market demand is still higher than before the epidemic.

 

The report shows that in the third quarter , iPad shipments increased by 15% year-on-year to 17.3 million units. In terms of global market share, it climbed 8 percentage points to rank first with a share of 38%.

 

Although Samsung's tablet shipments fell by 23% year-on-year and its market share dropped to 17% during the same period, it still ranked second; Lenovo's tablet shipments increased by 5% year-on-year and its market share rose by 9%, ranking third; while Amazon Fire and Huawei tablet shipments fell by 24% and 64%, respectively.

 

According to analysis, the main reason for the decline in shipments is the obstruction of the global supply chain and shipping congestion, as well as the blockage of some countries where parts are supplied due to the epidemic. This has led to a decline in tablet shipments and failed to meet market demand.

 

 

When it comes to tablet computers, Apple's products are still the most popular among consumers. As Apple upgraded the hardware configuration of the 12.9-inch model, the iPad Pro equipped with an M1 chip and a mini LED display has attracted the attention of consumers and increased iPad sales.

 

After using Hongmeng system, Huawei tablets have the function of linking with other devices, which enhances the user experience and is expected to increase sales. Sellers can continue to pay attention to relevant developments.

 

With the winter holidays approaching and the back-to-school season just around the corner, demand for tablets is only going to increase. The tension between high demand and low component supply is creating a daunting challenge for both suppliers and sellers involved.
