36% of consumers choose social media! Social media leads the new trend of fashion shopping

The development of the epidemic has caused more consumers to turn to online shopping, and this trend will continue. According to a survey conducted by digital marketing agency Croud on more than 1,000 shoppers around the world, 59.6 % of shoppers hope to buy more clothing online in the next six months.

As more and more businesses begin to develop e-commerce businesses, competition in online sales is becoming increasingly fierce. In Croud 's research report titled " The State of Online Fashion in 2021" , we can see that social e-commerce is becoming a new trend in promoting fashion shopping.

The research results show that during the epidemic , about 36 % of the respondents had purchased clothes or shoes by clicking on social advertisements or product posts , and about 54% of British respondents said they would continue to choose their favorite fashion products on social media in the next six months .

In terms of social software selection, nearly 10 % of British shoppers use TikTok for online shopping . In addition to TikTok, 28 % of British shoppers said they would choose the fashion products they want to buy through product posts or ads on Instagram , 18% of shoppers choose products on Facebook , and 7% of shoppers do so on Snapchat.

As social e-commerce quietly rises, privacy and security are also receiving more attention from people. According to a report by Croud , about 33% of British respondents said they were concerned about privacy issues when shopping on social commerce platforms. This proportion of British respondents is much higher than that of American, German and Italian respondents in the study .

In addition, Croud 's report also studied the most popular fashion retailers among British shoppers. The report showed that the top five retailers that British shoppers like to buy clothing are Asos, Next, Amazon, M&S and H&M, while Asos, Amazon, Next, Nike and Clarks are the most popular shoe retailers among British shoppers .

Emil Belsky, UK managing director of Croud, said: “It is noteworthy that a significant number of UK shoppers use TikTok, a relatively new app, to start their fashion shopping journey . This shows that the age of social platforms is not a barrier to retailers ’ commercial success , but rather provides retailers with a platform to guide consumers to purchase .

In short, the role of social media in the field of e-commerce will become increasingly important. Merchants can also consider making more arrangements on social media when conducting marketing activities.
