76,000 adult dry-top snorkels recalled due to drowning hazard

With the development of outdoor sports, diving, a very attractive leisure activity, is becoming more and more popular, and the demand for diving equipment is growing. At the same time, diving is also a sport with certain risks. When purchasing related equipment, you must do a good job of checking.

Yesterday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC) announced the recall of approximately 76,000 adult dry-top snorkels because the flush valves at the bottom of these snorkels may leak, causing water to flow in and posing an accidental drowning hazard.

The recall involves Oceanic brand adult dry-top snorkels, which come in white and gray, with a blue plastic shell surrounding an oval clear rubber bottom purge valve and a blue dry splash guard on top of the snorkel.

The recalled product batch numbers include: 2038, 2039, 2040, 2041, 2042, 2043, 2044, 2045, 2046, 2047, 2048, 2049, 205, 203, 2104, 2105, 2106, 2107, 2108, 2109, 2110, 2111, 2112, 2113, 2114 and 2115.

Oceanic has received 13 reports of leaking snorkels so far . One consumer was also reportedly slightly injured when they tripped over a leaking snorkel. These dry-top snorkels were sold at Costco wholesale warehouses and online at the Costco website between February 2021 and July 2021. Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled snorkels, destroy the product as instructed and contact Oceanic for a free replacement.

When searching on Amazon, I found that there are many merchants selling dry-top snorkels, with prices ranging from $15 to $30, and many products have achieved high sales. It can be seen that the market prospects for diving products are still very good.

Although diving is still a niche sport, as people's lifestyles change, diving is becoming more popular among young people, and the diving equipment market is expected to continue to grow. When selling related products, sellers must also pay attention to the control of product quality, after all, "safety is no small matter."
