In the Latin American market, in addition to Brazil, the Mexican market has also been attracting much attention. According to the latest survey by Mercado Libre, the five most popular product categories among Mexican consumers are smartphones, computers and their accessories, auto parts and personal care products, medicines and medical equipment, and footwear. This finding is based on Mercado Libre's survey of consumer preferences in Mexico's most active consumption areas, such as Mexico State and Jalisco State.
The editor found that when opening the Mercado Libre website, these products were in high demand. On the platform's main page, smart electronic devices accounted for a large part of the display page, including mobile phones, computers, headphones, etc., and the same was true for accessories such as polishers and drivers. Large automobile accessories such as tires also had high sales, and among the hot-selling footwear products, sports shoes accounted for the largest proportion.
With a population of 130 million, half of Mexico's online shoppers make up the majority, so its consumption potential is undoubtedly huge. Especially during the pandemic, the number of online shoppers has seen an "explosive" growth. All major e-commerce platforms view Mexico as a "treasure land" that needs to be explored continuously.
Amazon, Walmart, Wish and other platforms have seen business opportunities and have entered the Mexican market one after another. The market competition is very fierce. In addition to global e-commerce platforms, localized e-commerce platforms in Latin America are developing rapidly. Mercadolibre, Linio, B2Brazil and other platforms are the most popular among Latin American consumers. As for Mercadolibre, its sales in the second quarter increased by 30% year-on-year, and GMV increased by 29%.
When selecting products, e-commerce platforms also conduct relevant surveys on local consumer groups. According to the survey, the group with the greatest purchasing power in Mexico is mainly young people, so in terms of product selection, major platforms also focus on young products, and the hot sales of smart electronic devices are also understandable. Therefore, if sellers want to enter the Latin American market, they can use the sales products of local e-commerce as a reference and understand the consumption habits of local e-commerce companies.
According to relevant data forecasts, the size of Mexico's retail e-commerce market will reach US$21.8 billion by 2024. Mexico Electronic devices sell like hot cakes |
