Mercado Libre launches new pickup model in Mexico!

Mercado Libre launches new pickup model in Mexico!

With the peak sales season approaching, transportation and delivery speed have become issues of great concern to merchants, and e-commerce in Latin America is no exception.

According to foreign media reports, Mercado Libre recently launched a new delivery model in Mexico. This model mainly adopts the method of increasing the number of delivery personnel and distributing goods to other small stores. By increasing the number of staff, the speed of goods classification and pickup can be accelerated. The decentralization of goods will reduce the actual delivery volume of the platform and relieve pressure. Currently, more than 1,000 stores have registered.

Affected by the epidemic, Mexico has strict control over human contact, which has had a certain impact on merchants and consumers for a period of time. According to CCTV.com, as of yesterday, there were 3,433,511 confirmed cases in Mexico. The impact of the epidemic on the Mexican market is not small, but it also provides opportunities for e-commerce platforms to expand their market in Mexico. Mexico has a large base of 88 million active Internet users, and the number of online shopping consumers based on this advantage will increase in the future.

During the pandemic, Mexican consumers have developed the habit of online shopping. According to a study by McKinsey Consulting, 4 out of 5 Mexican consumers have increased their interest in new shopping habits, and 68% of consumers will choose cross-border online shopping, which means that the consumer scale is large and the market prospects are good.

The Latin American market has been developing relatively steadily in recent years, and the trend of cross-border consumption is also quite obvious. In addition to the demographic dividend, the stability of the development of e-commerce in the Latin American market has also given many sellers a reassurance. In addition to local e-commerce in Latin America, this year many platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, and AliExpress have seen the explosive market potential and achieved good sales in the region. As a giant in Latin American e-commerce, Mercado Libre is expected to take new actions in order to maintain its localization advantage.

A Mercado Libre official said they plan to expand the model to more than 30 cities in Mexico.
