City Mall's financing may reach US$12 million, and India's social e-commerce is developing rapidly

As an emerging e-commerce model, social e-commerce is developing rapidly in India, and the field of social e-commerce has also become a new investment field that international investment companies are keen on .

 

According to Indian media reports, after Meesho, City   CityMall is expected to raise $12 million in a round led by Accel Partners that would value CityMall at $ 35 million to $ 40 million .   The deal could be announced in a few weeks.

 

Founded in 2019, City Mall is a social e-commerce platform in India. It has more than 3,000 grocery products, mainly selling various packaged foods (daily food, cat and dog food), cleaning products (floor cleaners), household kitchen supplies (ovens, juicers), and care products (shower gel, shampoo) and other categories.

 

CityMall has two Android apps , one for consumers (buyers) and one for resellers (sellers) , and according to Sensor Tower, CityMall customers have downloaded more than 1.3 million apps, while the reseller-centric app has nearly 90,000 downloads.

 

After the new round of financing is successful, City Mall may use the funds to further strengthen its supply chain and go deeper into second-, third- and fourth-tier cities .

 

Sellers who are interested in the Indian market can pay more attention to India's social e-commerce platforms. On the one hand, compared with traditional e-commerce platforms, the social e-commerce model is more adaptable to the consumption habits of Indian people. Therefore, in recent years, India's social e-commerce has developed rapidly and has a bright future.

 

On the other hand, competition among sellers on traditional e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon.in has become very fierce, and the market is dominated by leading sellers. In comparison, social e-commerce platforms are still in their infancy and early stages of development and are more friendly to small and medium-sized sellers.

 

Different social e-commerce platforms focus on different product categories, so sellers should understand this clearly when choosing a platform. For example, Meesho mainly sells clothing, while City Mall focuses more on grocery categories. Sellers can choose a suitable platform for sales based on their products.
