According to socialmediatoday, TikTok is currently testing its newly launched "Seller University" (TikTok Shop: Seller University) in Indonesia to guide users to conduct e-commerce business on TikTok. ( TikTok "Seller University" official website )
As TikTok stated, "Seller University" is a training center that helps sellers conduct e-commerce business on TikTok in a variety of ways. TikTok will provide sellers with a full set of courses on seller tools, policies, and the latest updates to stores.
After successful registration, sellers will be able to sell products on TikTok in the following two ways :
Selling products on your own: Sellers who choose to sell through their personal pages can showcase their products through live broadcasts or short videos and insert product jump links in the content. When consumers view the content, they can click on the product anchor to redirect them to the corresponding product information detail page for further purchase.
Selling products through TikTok affiliates: TikTok said its affiliate program allows brands to promote products through influential content creators on its platform. After users upload products to Seller Center and set up a promotion plan, they can work with TikTok influencers to promote products.
E-commerce is TikTok's latest development focus and main development path. TikTok is currently working hard to build an ecosystem to ensure that content creators can monetize through the platform. This is also a means to retain creative and high-quality content producers . Otherwise, content creators may shift their positions to Instagram or YouTube to earn more income, and TikTok will lose many of its existing audiences.
Moreover, TikTok's Chinese version Douyin is also currently accelerating its layout of e-commerce, so it is not surprising that TikTok is currently accelerating its entry into the e-commerce field with an eye on the next stage of growth. It is reported that TikTok's current user base is approaching 1 billion and is at a critical stage of development. Therefore, if it can successfully provide content creators with revenue-generating tools, it will likely become a strong competitive force in the social media advertising industry while laying the foundation for its sustainable development.
However, TikTok's development in the United States still faces many uncontrollable factors. The new Biden administration of the United States has stated that it will not continue to promote the efforts made during the Trump administration to sell TikTok to a consortium led by Oracle and Walmart, but it also pointed out that it may order TikTok to "sell itself entirely to the United States" at some stage.
TikTok will still have to deal with these concerns in the future, but given its current business structure, it still needs to quickly expand its e-commerce tools to maximize its development potential. TikTok Short videos and live streaming |
