Google to add shipping and return dates to search results

Recently, according to an official announcement from Google, Google will launch a new annotation feature that will highlight delivery and return policies, as well as new merchant identities and other information directly in ads.

The peak season for consumption is approaching. According to survey data provided by Ipsos, about 58% of consumers will choose online shopping more often, and 59% of consumers said they would shop in advance to avoid out-of-stock goods. In fact, as of August this year, the search volume for "holiday gift ideas" in the United States has exceeded the same period in 2020. All kinds of data show that the total consumption this year will surge significantly.

In response, Google announced that it will launch a new delivery and return annotation feature for Google Search and Google Shopping search results (including free product details and paid product details).

Customers will be able to see when their orders will be delivered through shipping annotations such as "Free Shipping [delivers by Friday, December 24]", "Receive by December 24", and the "Free Shipping, Fast Delivery" badge (for items shipped free of charge within 5 business days).

According to data provided by Google, merchants who emphasize delivery within 1 to 3 days in the free product details on the "Shopping" tab have an average click-through rate increase of 11%. Google recommends that merchants check Google Merchant Center as soon as possible and ensure that new shipping information has been set up there.

In addition, merchants can also synchronize package delivery data with delivery companies such as FedEx, USPS and UPS so that Google can calculate custom delivery speeds for customers. In addition, merchants can also specify the shipping cost and delivery speed of each product through "Feed-Shipping Attributes". In order to increase consumer trust and shopping experience, merchants can now add return notes (such as "free returns within 90 days" or "free returns before January 31") to let them know that the return period for the holiday season has been extended.

It is worth mentioning that the "2020 Consumer Culture Report" released by 5W Public Relations shows that 71% of consumers prefer to buy goods from merchants that are consistent with their values. To this end, Google has launched two new merchant labels: "Women-owned" and "Veteran-owned". Merchants can now add these new labels in Merchant Center. This policy only applies to retailers in the United States.

Through the new policy launched by Google, consumers can find their favorite products more accurately, and merchants can also take the opportunity to get a good opportunity to promote their products for free. It seems that there will be many dark horse sales this peak season.
