Recently, according to a report by the international research organization Counterpoint Research, global smartwatch shipments in the second quarter of 2021 increased by 27% year-on-year to 49.08 million units. The year-on-year growth of smartwatches priced below US$100 reached 547% !
Among them, there were 22.62 million branded smart watches , accounting for 46%. The top three brands in terms of shipments of branded smart watches in Q2 were Apple, Huawei and Samsung .
In terms of market share, Apple's user base has exceeded 100 million, with a market share of 28%, Huawei's market share is 9.3%, and Samsung's market share is 7.6%. Apple still ranks first in global smartwatch shipments, and the United States is still the main market for Apple smartwatches , with American users accounting for more than half of its total global user base.
From an analysis perspective, the matching rate of smart watches and smartphones is also an important factor affecting their sales. When users choose smart watches, they usually consider the compatibility with the brand of their own mobile phones. The decline in Huawei’s smart watch shipments seems to be inseparable from the decline in the brand’s smartphone business.
With the continuous updating of product series of domestic brands such as Xiaomi and OPPO, the target market is also expanding. Among them, the Indian market is very fond of Chinese domestic brand smart watches. Their fashionable design, rich functions and price advantage of less than US$100 have made India the fastest growing market for smart watch sales in the second quarter .

Among them, smart watches with health monitoring functions such as exercise monitoring, body temperature, blood oxygen saturation and heart rate monitoring are very popular. From the market sales situation, smart watches with sports and health monitoring functions, stylish appearance and prices below US$100 have hundreds of millions of potential customers worldwide .
The second quarter is a low season for sales, but global smartwatch shipments still achieved a year-on-year growth of 27%. I believe that with the arrival of the upcoming peak sales season, smartwatches will usher in a larger sales market.
