Snapdeal, a well-known Indian e-commerce platform , announced that sales in its fashion category grew 210% in the first six months of 2021 .
During the epidemic, consumers bought a large number of clothing, including T-shirts, shirts and tops , which drove the growth of data . Another reason is the demand for travel after staying at home for a long time .
Price has become the most important factor for many buyers . The price range of a single fashion item on the Snapdeal platform is between Rs 300-450 , compared to Rs 450-550 in 2020. On Snapdeal, purchases of clothing in the Rs 450 category have doubled, up 40% compared to the first half of 2020 .
Affected by the second wave of the epidemic and people's concerns about the future epidemic situation , Snapdeal 's survey shows that consumers are expected to spend less on each piece of clothing than usual, but this does not mean that the purchase volume will decrease.
A Snapdeal spokesperson said : “ Most of our customers are between the ages of 18-27 and have been mostly staying at home since the pandemic began . However, instead of waiting for the lockdown restrictions to be lifted , they have adapted to virtual interactions online, including sharing their new wardrobes through social media , revealing new fashion trends with the latest pictures and videos .
In the women's clothing category, total sales have increased 3.5 times in the past six months, with dresses, sportswear and pajamas also showing multiple increases. In addition, flared trousers and wide-leg trousers, which are mainly comfortable, are more popular than jeans and leggings.
In men’s fashion, the category grew 3.25 times, including loungewear, athleisure and underwear. In the tops category , average daily orders for T-shirts, shirts and underwear grew 100%, with shoppers preferring seasonally relevant clothing made of light fabrics, pastel colors and summer prints .
Snapdeal’s fashion apparel focuses on practicality, style and size. To meet this, Snapdeal now launches new and exciting products across categories every month and sells them to consumers at a price range of Rs 249-499 , attracting Gen Z and millennial consumers .
Although the apparel and fashion industry has been hit hard during the pandemic , Snapdeal is still on a steady growth path , supported by practicality and low prices . India Snapdeal |
