75% of Snapchatters plan to spend Mother’s and Father’s Day with their parents or extended family, and 81% of Snapchatters say it’s especially important to them to be with their mom or dad this year.

As vaccination efforts progress, 53% of Snapchatters worldwide plan to celebrate with loved ones, rising to 67% in the U.S. For those not gathering with family, buying gifts is another way for nearly half (46%) of Snapchatters to show their gratitude .

69% of Snapchatters worldwide say they typically plan Mother’s and Father’s Day gifts and activities up to two weeks in advance, while a third spend less than a week planning.

When Snapchatters look for inspiration on how to celebrate Mother’s or Father’s Day, nearly 40% turn to their siblings or other family members for advice. If that doesn’t work, a quarter of Snapchatters globally will go straight to their parents, including a third in Australia, the US and Canada.

Mobile devices are an important tool in the gift-buying process . When planning a gift, more than two-fifths of Snapchatters worldwide use their mobile phone to research gifts, reaching 50% in Australia and 49% in the UK and Mexico.

Additionally, Snapchatters in Saudi Arabia are most likely to share on Snapchat the gifts they purchased/received for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

55% of Snapchatters worldwide plan to give their parents more traditional gifts, such as jewelry, cards or flowers . Traditional gifts are particularly popular among Snapchatters in the UK (67%), US (65%) and Norway (64%). Meanwhile, Snapchatters in India, Germany, Italy and Canada plan to give gifts they have made themselves.

Last year, popular words and phrases related to Mother's Day and Father's Day on the platform included "The best mom/dad," "Thank you," "Love you," and "In the world." According to Snapchat's statistics last year, conversations mentioning "mom" and "Mother's Day" on Mother's Day 2020 increased 25 times compared to the previous two weeks.

In summary, consumers may invest more enthusiasm and money in Mother's Day and Father's Day this year, and sellers can also pay more attention to it.
