Some Amazon warehouses may face closure again

According to the latest data on the Canadian epidemic , 10,386 new cases were reported on April 6, and the number of new cases per day exceeded 10,000 again. Among them, the number of new cases in Ontario alone exceeded 3,000 per day.

The number of COVID-19 infections in regions such as Brampton and Peel in Ontario is also surging , so Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown plans to close large venues such as Amazon warehouses to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Amazon warehouses may face closure again

According to a previous report released by Peel Public Health, a quarter of residents in the Peel region who were infected with the coronavirus continued to work even when they were sick. Basic workers are at risk of infection. Since the pandemic, more than 920 Amazon workers in the Greater Toronto Area have been infected with the coronavirus.

And as the B.1.1.7 variant discovered in the United Kingdom is replacing the original coronavirus, the new variant is sickening younger people and putting more people in the hospital. Yet young essential workers may not be able to get a vaccine until mid-May at the earliest, according to a slideshow provided by public health officials.

And unlike the vaccination of education workers, which is tentatively scheduled for June, vaccines that can be used to proactively vaccinate essential workers are still "a long way off."

This also means that Amazon warehouses in the area may choose to close due to the ravages of the epidemic. Previously, the YYZ4 warehouse at 8050 Heritage Road in Brampton, Ontario was temporarily closed from March 12 to March 27 for disinfection due to the epidemic infection, and just resumed operations on March 28.

Many schools in the area are closed

A large number of schools in Ontario, Canada, will stop offline classes due to concerns about the spread of the epidemic . Peel Public Health also issued an order to close all schools on Tuesday.

Dr. Lawrence Loh, the regional health officer , said he ordered schools to close starting Tuesday. The schools will switch to online learning only and will be closed until April 18. Whether the order will be extended after the expiration will depend on the situation of epidemic control.

Patrick Brown tweeted that schools in Brampton and Peel regions can remain open, but crowded places like Amazon's large warehouses, food processing plants, and hypermarkets should be closed to effectively reduce the increase in the number of new coronavirus infections.

In the past few months, officials and media in Ontario, Canada have been discussing whether large warehouses and hypermarkets should continue to operate . Patrick Brown has always been a supporter of opening these large warehouses and factories because these places do provide important services.

But now Patrick Brown 's thinking has undergone a major change. He believes that the continued operation of these places is an important reason why the new crown epidemic cannot be controlled. According to the Toronto Star, data shows that the number of new crown cases in factories and large buildings far exceeds that in restaurants and small retail stores.

Faced with the current severe epidemic situation in the Peel region, the Amazon warehouse in the area is likely to close again. Sellers who have goods shipped to the warehouse should pay close attention to local developments so as to be prepared to respond in a timely manner.
