Online shopping frauds are emerging one after another, and more than 50% of online shoppers unfortunately fall victim to them. However, Austrians say they feel very safe when shopping online. The reason is that they pay more attention to using safe payment methods and value store qualifications and product certification information when shopping online.
An Austrian e-commerce study pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic has promoted the prosperity of the e-commerce market, and 42% of respondents said that they have purchased significantly more products online since the outbreak.
At the same time, online fraud cases have also emerged in large numbers. Criminals want to gain the trust of online shoppers more than ever before. Nearly half of Austria has been affected by fraudsters. The most common methods are "paid, but not shipped", "subscription traps", improper payment requests, and sending malicious bundled software when shopping.
Despite this, Thorsten Behrens, general manager of Austrian e-commerce quality monitoring , expressed optimism: Fraud cases do continue to emerge, but Austrians' sense of shopping security has not been greatly affected . 92% of online shoppers feel safe when shopping and are very satisfied with e-commerce.
Among them, dissatisfaction with online shopping mainly focuses on three aspects: minimum purchase quantity accounts for 27.5% , high shipping costs account for 27.4%, and slow logistics accounts for 26.5%.
When shopping online, Austrians generally do not pay immediately if they encounter abnormal prices. 44% of people will browse buyer reviews, 30% will check the store's record information, 16.3% will check whether the store's products have passed quality approval, and some people will choose to consult acquaintances who have purchased from them or check the risk review website Watchlist .
Behrens also said : If you are skeptical about online stores, then product certifications, buyer experience sharing, and the transparency of product transaction information are all good reference factors.
Austrians pay more attention to security and data protection when shopping online. 80% of respondents believe that store certification is very important, which makes it easier to convince people and also shows that the store will handle personal data carefully.
Research shows that Austrians prefer to shop at stores with high credibility. 62.5% of respondents value safe payment methods, 47.4% value store reputation, 45.8% care about business hours, 45.4% pay attention to positive reviews, and 32.8% pay attention to product certification information.
If merchants want to make their products stand out in the fierce competition, the following three points are also important: allowing order cancellations and returns, allowing buyers to choose their own payment methods, and choosing local Austrian suppliers. Austria E-commerce Europe |
