InPost acquires French express company Mondial Relay to expand global market

According to the latest news from Reuters, Polish logistics giant InPost intends to acquire 100% of the shares of French local express company Mondial Relay for 565 million euros .

InPost has always planned international expansion and has developed it into its main strategy. As one of the largest e-commerce markets in Europe, France has made remarkable progress in the development of the e-commerce market since 2020. By acquiring France's Mondial Relay , InPost will successfully enter the French market, expand its international business, and further promote the development of the French e-commerce industry.

As one of the largest logistics companies in Poland, InPost has been expanding its business scope in various European countries. After this acquisition, InPost's pick-up points in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and Portugal will increase to 16,000. As the European logistics industry becomes more and more mature, these outlets are planned to join InPost's automatic parcel locker network.

InPost was founded in 1999. With the rapid development of e-commerce, it began to expand B2C and C2C services, providing various types of parcel delivery solutions. In addition to the recently acquired Mondial Relay , the company is also a partner of Polish e-commerce giant Allergo and Amazon Poland.

In 2020, InPost's profits increased by 184% year-on-year. The website predicts that this acquisition and cooperation will increase InPost's profits from 100 million euros to 150 million euros.

Mondial Relay in France operates the second largest relay point network, including distribution and collection, and has about 15,800 outlets in France, Belgium and Spain. Last year, Mondial Relay 's turnover was 437 million euros, making it a relatively strong express delivery brand in France.

Kay Schiebur, executive board member of e-commerce platform Otto, said that the combination of the two logistics giants is a win-win for both parties. It will provide both parties with a more advantageous position in the European market and gain the growth potential of the French logistics market amid the fierce competition in e-commerce logistics.

The French e-commerce market is growing steadily, and the increasingly mature logistics chain will bring a more powerful development environment to the French e-commerce market. As Rafal Brzoska, founder and CEO of InPost, said, such a strong cooperation can release untapped demand and redefine the last mile delivery experience for consumers, which will promote the development of the entire European e-commerce environment.
