Surprise! Japan requires 42 categories of products to change their labels

It is reported that on February 19, the Consumer Affairs Agency of Japan asked 45 companies to improve the labels of 42 categories of products and services.

Affected by the epidemic, people's lifestyles have changed. They realize that infectious diseases are still one of the main threats facing mankind. Therefore, people have begun to pay attention to their own health, and health foods, negative ion generators and disinfectant sprays have become popular.

However, operators take advantage of people's urgency and make false advertising for their products. They add virus-preventing labels to related products and falsely advertise the effectiveness of the products.

It is understood that the characteristics of the new coronavirus have not yet been fully discovered, and the implementation of trials in various countries is still difficult. However, since Japan declared a state of emergency on January 3 , many domestic online advertisements have claimed that their products have the effect of preventing the new coronavirus .

These products are claimed to have the effect of preventing viruses, which is considered to lack objectivity and rationality at this stage, and misleads ordinary consumers into making the right choice of products.

It is reported that such things may seriously violate the relevant provisions of the Labelling Act (good misidentification labeling) and the Health Promotion Act (false/exaggerated labeling of food ) .

In response, the Consumer Affairs Agency of Japan has required relevant companies to make timely corrections and said it will continue to monitor mislabeled products. It said it has reminded consumers through social platforms and will take appropriate measures in accordance with the law if it is found again.

So far , the consumer affairs agency has asked 45 businesses that sell or offer antivirus products in internet ads to improve labeling of 42 categories of products and services.

This will not only prevent consumers from misselecting products, but also prevent them from taking the wrong measures to prevent infection with the new coronavirus.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has made people pay more and more attention to the virus. Recently, vaccines have become a hot topic of discussion. However, the development of vaccines from the beginning to their use is a very complicated process. Before the vaccine is widely available, everyone must strictly abide by the epidemic prevention requirements and take correct epidemic prevention measures.
