Official announcement! French Conforama and BUT cooperate to create a furniture market with a market value of 4 billion euros

Recently, Conforama.fr., the second largest furniture retail chain in Europe , signed an omni-channel cooperation with French homewares retailer BUT to create a furniture market with a market value of 4 billion euros.

The cooperation between Conforama and BUT focuses on the integration of online and offline platforms and is committed to expanding the sales network. Currently, the two companies jointly operate nearly 500 stores. This cooperation can give full play to the comprehensive advantages of the two companies' various businesses and consolidate the leading position of the two brands in the furniture category and household equipment products.

Since the first quarter of 2020, due to the impact of the epidemic, French people have spent more time at home, and the online shopping boom has been particularly evident in the household goods market.

According to data from the Conforama France website, mattresses, wardrobes, bookshelves, tables and chairs and other daily furniture products are far ahead in sales, among which bookshelves and cabinets are leading in sales due to their high quality, low price, convenience and practicality. The sales of such single products are about to exceed 100,000 pieces. The sales of household appliances and entertainment and leisure products have soared.

Conforama was founded in 1967 and has offline stores in eight European countries. As one of the most well-known furniture sales platforms in France, its product range covers a wide range, not only limited to home decorations, but also digital home appliances, garden and outdoor, leisure and sports products, etc. This provides many consumers with a one-stop convenient service for home appliances, which is also an advantage that cannot be ignored by this retail brand.

Relying on its omni-channel development model of online and offline, Conforama is committed to becoming a national leading brand of household products. It has 11 million active users in France, 10 million independent visitors per month, 235 offline stores across the country, and more than 1 million products sold online. More than one-third of the total transaction amount comes from online stores.

Conforama's consumer group is mainly concentrated in the middle class, with female consumers as the main body. It has high-quality loyal consumers. Relying on its good reputation among the customer base, the platform is increasingly integrated into the lives of the French.

There is no subscription fee on the Conforama platform. Sellers on the platform need to pay a monthly fee of 39.90€/month (charged after orders start to arrive). The commission varies from 5% to 20% depending on the product category, plus shipping costs based on the sales price of the product.

For sellers, the conditions for obtaining entry qualifications include: providing valid company business registration documents, identity documents, European VAT number, and signed valid company articles of association.

On the Conforama platform, sellers can get their own supplier page, which includes customer satisfaction ratings, number of reviews, company contact details, shipping and return conditions, sales volume, and product range. The seller's product list will be displayed in the "Tous nos produits " (All Products) tab of the supplier page.

Conforama has invested a lot in sellers’ exposure on mobile phones, providing sellers with special promotion information, store services, etc. As a major e-commerce platform in France, Conforama has 8 promotional activities every year, which is also a great opportunity for sellers to increase sales and open up the market. The omni-channel cooperation with the new platform will also bring Conforama greater influence.
