What platforms do young people abroad use? UK Depop users exceed 26 million!

There is an e-commerce shopping platform with more than 26 million users worldwide , but few people over the age of 30 have heard of it. It is Depop.

Depop is a platform for buying, selling or exchanging clothes, shoes, accessories and other items. Its market positioning is "between Instagram, eBay and teenagers' bedroom floors". Its CEO calls the platform " the next generation fashion marketplace "

Among all young people aged 16 to 24 in the UK , one-third have registered as Depop users, and 80% of active users are under the age of 26. From popular British brands such as Primark T-shirts to the most classic Birkin bag under the top luxury leather brand Hermes, they can all be found on this platform.

Depop's business was originally developing steadily. As the new crown epidemic swept the world, Depop also ushered in a business boom: the browsing time spent by teenagers on the shopping platform increased dramatically, and the turnover doubled between April and June last year!

Now it's not just teenagers, some mothers are also trying to have fun on the platform. Among them is a 41-year-old user who went through 20 minutes of panic before she started to have fun using the app for the first time. She then started to model the products herself, fill in the browsing list according to her preferences, and gain the joy of being 18 again from online shopping. She was moved by some thoughtful little designs in the APP... All this means that Depop's target customers are no longer just young people.

There are many celebrities selling items on Depop, the most famous of which are British singer Lily Allen and American model and actress Emily Ratajkowski. There are also some sellers who are famous on Depop. They use styling and planning to attract thousands of fans and customers, and even become fashion trendsetters.

Depop gained its first batch of active users through a good combination of social media and celebrity effects, but at the same time there were many counterfeit products on the website, and most of the users were teenagers. These counterfeit products were undoubtedly a huge blow to these teenagers.

However, for these young people, Depop remains an attractive platform because it is fresh, interesting and vibrant, which are the qualities that young people value most.
