Apple 1 made by Steve Jobs sold on eBay for $1.5 million

Apple 1 made by Steve Jobs sold on eBay for $1.5 million

Recently, an Apple 1 was sold on eBay , and the seller's price was $1.5 million, which caused heated discussions on the Internet. According to the earliest description of the item, Apple 1 expert Corey Cohen confirmed that this model is original. It was packed in the original wooden box of Byte Shop KOA, equipped with the original power supply and Datanetics Version D keyboard, and Sony TV-115 monitor with video modulator.

It is reported that this computer was built by Jobs and his partner Wozniak in a garage in 1976 and was made by Jobs himself. In order to make this batch of computers, Jobs sold his Volkswagen minibus. The price at that time was US$666.66. A total of 200 units were produced, and the computer sold on eBay is one of the first 50 units.

According to the information listed on eBay and the Apple 1 registration page, there are currently only six Apple 1 computers still in their original wooden boxes. The monitor of this computer was later equipped by the seller, but the model and production date are the same as the original. According to the seller, the motherboard of this Apple 1 has not been modified at all and is in "almost perfect" condition. It is one of the few devices that can be fully put into use.

In addition to the monitor, the seller also replaced the keyboard cable of the computer. The other parts are also in very good condition, without any bumps or damage, which is why this computer can be priced so high on eBay. The seller bought this computer for a few hundred dollars in 1978, and the transaction price of this computer was as high as $905,000 in 2014.

This is not the first time that eBay has seen such a sensational collectible auction. Previously, a seller sold the Magic card "Black Lotus" on eBay for 100 million yen, which also caused heated discussions among netizens around the world. As of now, eBay is still one of the most popular auction websites in the world.

Unlike other websites, eBay's second-hand market has been developed very well. In 2020, eBay also launched an authentic authentication service for collectors, covering products such as watches and sneakers. For users who want to find some new and interesting things to satisfy their collecting addiction, eBay is still an unavoidable platform.

However, in recent times, the global epidemic situation is still very serious, and no one knows how long it will take for the epidemic to end. The savings of some people abroad have been reduced, and they have to take out their treasures at the bottom of their boxes to sell, each of which is very valuable. This is probably one of the reasons why "sky-high auction items" have appeared one after another during this period .
