On January 29, eBay China’s official website released a "Notice on the Service Hours of the 2021 Spring Festival Logistics Plan". The announcement stated that as the Spring Festival holiday approaches, the service hours of various logistics plans will be adjusted, and it is recommended that sellers refer to the official announcements of various logistics suppliers and make shipping plans in advance.

 

 

In early February, when all Chinese people were preparing for the Spring Festival, foreigners had already circled February 14 on their calendars. As Valentine's Day approaches, foreigners are secretly choosing gifts for their beloved partners. The demand for Chinese products by foreign people remains high, and cross-border sellers have also ushered in another wave of sales.

 

However, as the Spring Festival approaches, "whether you have money or not, go home for the New Year" is the main theme of Chinese people's emotions. However, going home for the holiday will not only miss a large wave of traffic, but also bring some troubles:

 

First, the products in the store cannot be searched: Search is one of the main sources of store traffic for sellers. If the vacation mode is turned on, it is likely to cause the loss of the store's original accumulated traffic;

 

Another problem is that the product cannot be ordered : some old customers have already collected the store and come to visit from time to time, but they cannot place an order, which will also bring a bad consumption experience to customers and cause damage to the reputation;

 

Finally, the loss of traffic will become difficult to make up for : if there is no traffic entering the store during the Spring Festival, it will be difficult to restore traffic after the New Year.

 

Therefore, experienced cross-border sellers generally do not take holidays during the Spring Festival. As long as they arrange staff to be on duty during the Spring Festival, the customer service warehouse will still operate normally. Therefore, it is recommended that all cross-border sellers prepare sufficient spot goods before the factory goes on holiday, arrange warehouse staff on duty reasonably, and plan the delivery time, so as to harvest another wave of traffic during the Spring Festival.

 

However, even if cross-border sellers do not take a break, factories and logistics companies also have to take a holiday. Domestic factories generally have a long shutdown period during the Spring Festival, and the supply of goods may be in short supply before and after the Spring Festival. In addition, due to the recurrence of overseas epidemics at the end of the year, the number of airport and terminal staff has decreased, and a large number of containers have been stranded at airports and terminals waiting for customs clearance and delivery. The number of cabinets transferred back to Asia has decreased, making it difficult for domestic merchants to ship goods. Many people are facing a "stock shortage" during the Spring Festival .

 

In order to avoid the occurrence of "out-of-stock" situations, sellers should also pay attention to inventory and sales, pay attention to their own supply chain, and "grab goods" in time before the factory goes on holiday. At the same time, they should also pay attention to preparing goods according to their own pre-sales situation, maximize profits with the least cost, and not blindly distribute goods and cause waste.

 

Today’s logistics situation is still unclear. Cross-border sellers also need to consider the timeliness, price, and historical delivery rates of various logistics channels, predict emergencies in each channel and logistics method, and do risk management in advance, so that they can be prepared when holiday uncertainty increases.
