BigBasket is India's largest grocery e-commerce platform, headquartered in Bangalore. The platform has 18,000 products from more than 1,000 brands, covering everything from fresh fruits and vegetables, rice, seasonings to beverages, meat and personal care products.
About BigBasket In December 2011, Hari Menon, along with VS Sudhakar, Vipul Parekh, Abhinay Choudhari and VS Ramesh, founded the prototype of Bigbasket in a modest building in Indiranagar neighborhood of Bengaluru. As of the end of last year, Bigbasket had more than 4 million registered users, with a monthly transaction volume of 15 billion rupees (1.54 billion yuan) and 2.5 million monthly transaction customers. The overall user retention rate is 35%. The average order price is about 1,500 rupees (153.8 yuan), and the delivery fee is 650 rupees (66.6 yuan). The company claims to have reached break-even in 8 cities.
Service Area Buyers can choose a delivery time slot after which the order will be sent directly to their doorsteps, serving cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Delhi, Mysore, Coimbatore, Vijayawada, Guntur, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gurgaon Vadodara, Visakhapatnam, Surat, Nagpur, Patna, Indore, Chandigarh Triplex, Jaipur, Bhopal, Noida, Ghaziabad.
Order delivery Bigbasket has now launched a same-day delivery service, all orders before 12 noon will be delivered on the same day; orders after 12 noon will be delivered the next day. Orders worth more than 1,000 rupees (102.5 yuan) will be free of charge.

Financing In August 2015, BigBasket, India's largest online grocer, received a new round of financing of US$50 million, led by Bessemer Venture Partners. In March 2016, BigBasket completed its Series D financing of US$150 million. Investors included Abraaj Group, Ascent Capital Group, International Finance Corporation, Sands Capital Management, Zodius Capital, and Bessemer Venture Partners. In March 2017, it obtained a venture loan of US$6.9 million. In October 2017, BigBasket received an investment of US$839,000 from its current investor Trifecta venture. In November 2017, BigBasket announced that it had raised another round of 520 million rupees (about 8.02 million US dollars). The investors were four venture capital firms that had previously invested in the company, including Abraaj Basket, Bessemer Venture Partners, International Finance Corp, an International Finance Corporation under the World Bank, and Sands Capital. In February 2018, Bigbasket, India's largest online grocer, received $300 million in financing, led by Alibaba, with participation from Abraaj Group and Bessemer Venture Partners. |
