What is Floyd? Floyd Review, Features

Floyd was founded in 2013 with a single product, The Floyd Leg, as a response to disposable furniture. In this spirit, our design principles are centered around problem solving and being more thoughtful for the home.

About Floyd

  • 8 years of practical design ideas. According to the EPA, more than 9 million tons of furniture end up in landfills each year. Founded in Detroit in 2013, co-founders Kyle Hoff and Alex O'Dell launched a single product, The Floyd Leg, on Kickstarter. Developed in response to disposable furniture, it allowed anyone to make a table out of any surface material they found. It quickly became a hit, and in its first year, the fledgling company shipped the legs to customers in more than 30 countries. And so Floyd began.
  • The following design principles have shaped the philosophy of Floyd, Floyd: From the first Floyd Legs that were born out of 11 gauge steel sheets that avoided a trip to IKEA, to the 250+ pound solid plywood frame that built the first Floyd Bed so co-founders Kyle and Alex could finally get their mattress off the floor, to the Floyd Sofa, to the sawed off Floyd Side Table legs that were chopped off. This practical design philosophy has resulted in different, well-designed products that are in over 50,000 homes around the world.
