Tuenti was founded in 2006 and is a Spanish social networking service that integrates telecommunications and social services through its own applications to provide its customers with a cloud experience on multiple platforms. It is known as the "Facebook of Spain." About Tuenti Tuenti became the most popular social network among young people in Spain between 2009 and 2012, with more than 15 million registered users, earning it the nickname "Spanish Facebook". Currently in Spain, Tuenti offers a mobile phone service that can be accessed anywhere in any device via the cloud. Origin of the name Although Tuenti sounds similar to the English word "twenty," it actually means "your personality." Apps for Windows Phone, Tizen and Ubuntu are in development. Service Area Spain, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico (discontinued in July 2016). Social Networking Services Tuenti is the most popular social network in Spain and it has all the tools that are common to social networking sites. It allows users to set up profiles, upload photos and videos, connect and communicate with friends. Many other utilities were also provided at the beginning, such as a chat application, the ability to create events and tag locations and places. Unlike social networking sites that feature banner ads, Tuenti opts out of these traditional forms of obstructive and intrusive advertising in order to respect the privacy of users. Just one month later, the company updated their mobile app and website to remove all remaining social network features except for the chat platform.
