On March 19, Cainiao and AliExpress jointly launched a comprehensive upgrade of “Global 5-Day Delivery”.
As the industry's first cross-border e-commerce express flagship product to be launched on a large scale , "Global 5-Day Delivery" has added new service countries including Germany, France, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Mexico and other core markets, further realizing "mass production". Both fully managed and semi-managed merchants can enjoy the extremely fast fulfillment experience brought by this product, which is applicable to both general e-commerce goods and electric goods.
Thanks to the "Global 5-Day Delivery", British bride Tracy received her embroidered wedding dress from Huqiu within a week, completing her major life event as scheduled; the "Cao County Origin" horse-faced skirt of Mila, a Chinese culture enthusiast in the Netherlands, was delivered to her doorstep 5 days after the order was placed, injecting acceleration into the overseas expansion of Chinese fashion trends; Mr. Cai, a merchant on AliExpress, saw sales of his smart water purifier increase by more than 20% in the third quarter, and the global 5-day delivery became an important factor driving the surge in orders.
"We hope to make 'Global 5-Day Delivery' a global express delivery service for cross-border merchants." Ding Hongwei, Vice President of Cainiao Group and General Manager of International Express, said at the press conference that logistics timeliness is an important breakthrough in driving cross-border e-commerce platforms to increase their order volume. For consumers, logistics timeliness is one of the key considerations for whether they will repurchase; for e-commerce platforms, efficient logistics helps to shape the platform's differentiated advantages and break the problem of homogeneity.
It is understood that as the world's largest cross-border e-commerce logistics , Cainiao began to build a global smart logistics network before 2017 , and launched the cross-border express standard product "5 US dollars 10 days to arrive", which directly reduced the original industry time of 30-60 days to 10 days. In September 2023, Cainiao and AliExpress took the lead in promoting "Global 5-Day Delivery" in Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and other countries, and won the trust of cross-border merchants and consumers. Cainiao data shows that in the third quarter of fiscal year 24, the number of orders for "Global 5-Day Delivery" achieved a strong triple-digit growth month-on-month.
"Since the one-year implementation of the managed service model by AliExpress, it has maintained rapid growth. The logistics service created in cooperation with Cainiao is one of the core advantages of managed services." Yi Yun, general manager of AliExpress Logistics Supply Chain, pointed out that Cainiao and AliExpress, as a "going global partner", have created a win-win model of "business flow + logistics". AliExpress uses its platform advantages to bring considerable business flow to Cainiao, quickly accumulates in-depth knowledge of consumer markets in various countries, and builds a global smart logistics network; at the same time, Cainiao creates efficient and stable cross-border express products for AliExpress, further improving consumers' product repurchase and satisfaction.
In addition to greatly improving the efficiency of cross-border logistics, after-sales protection must also keep up. AliExpress has also launched after-sales protections for consumers, such as "refund for overdue delivery", "refund for lost", "refund for broken", and "compensation for late delivery". In addition, local customer service stations will be opened in Europe and Mexico. Mexico is the sixth country in the world where AliExpress has a local customer service station for minority languages. In the future, there will be more than 100 local customer service staff to serve Mexican consumers.
In collaboration with Cainiao, AliExpress continues to improve user experience such as fulfillment timeliness, helping merchants achieve growth. AliExpress Choice, based on the full and semi-hosted model, with the help of Cainiao's global smart logistics network, provides consumers with a better experience through cost-effective, high-quality products, faster logistics speed and better customer service, driving AliExpress orders to grow 60% year-on-year in the December quarter.
With the "Global 5-Day Delivery" program being launched in more than 10 countries, AliExpress has further increased its overseas investment. In March, it announced the signing of two Saudi football stars, Salem Al-Dawsari and Feras Al Brikan, as Middle East spokespeople. During the Ramadan period in March, AliExpress's huge advertisements covered the streets of downtown Saudi Arabia and the largest highway signs, allowing more overseas consumers to experience the "Chinese speed".
