At the beginning of the new year, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC) "named" two products on Amazon, saying that these two products posed safety risks and needed to be recalled.
1. UBBCARE Play Yard Mattress According to the recall notice issued by the CPSC, the recalled product is from China, 38 inches long, 26 inches wide, white in color, and has a repeating polka dot pattern on the mattress cover. About 1,000 items are being recalled.
It is reported that the reason for the recall is that the product violates many provisions of the US federal safety regulations, such as product thickness testing, lack of risk warnings and labels, and more dangerously, the product may cause suffocation to babies who use it.
The product was sold by Chinese seller UBBCARE through the Amazon platform between October 2022 and August 2023 for approximately US$40.
CPSC reminds consumers to stop using the recalled mattresses immediately and contact UBBCARE for a full refund and instructions on how to dispose of the mattress. UBBCARE and Amazon will also proactively contact consumers who have purchased the products.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties caused by the product.
2. Homedics Fascia Gun On the same day, CPSC also announced a recall of a fascia gun under HoMedics. The name of the product is described as Therapist Select Percussion Personal Massagers, and the model is HHP-715. The product is black in color, with a handle, shell and massage head, with the word "HoMedics" printed on the side, and comes with four interchangeable massage heads.
The product will be sold from September 2020 to November 2023 through online channels such as Amazon, Macys.com, and HomeDepot.com, and offline channels such as Macy's and Home Depot, with a price of approximately $100.
The notice shows that the reason for the recall is that the product may cause fire and burn hazards due to overheating when charging. The number of recalled products involves about 46,000 units, of which about 41,000 are sold in Canada.
CPSC reminded consumers to stop using the product and contacted HoMedics in a timely manner, and received a full refund.
Unlike the UBBCARE Play Yard mattress, Homediction has received 17 reports of the massager overheating, including one report of a consumer's thumb being burned.
In recent years, both government agencies and e-commerce platforms have attached increasing importance to product compliance. As a cross-border seller, everyone must be aware of the policies of their target markets and conduct timely self-inspections of their products to avoid unnecessary losses. Amazon recall |
