Amazon App lost over one million users! SHEIN and Temu are catching up

In the view of foreign media, cross-border platforms from China , Temu, SHEIN and Miravia, are "devouring" Amazon's users and becoming Amazon's new competitors.

 

According to consumer data released by GWS, a mobile analytics and business intelligence company , the number of Amazon's mobile users in the UK market decreased by more than 1 million in the first half of 2023, but e-commerce platforms from China have gained growth here.

 

Since Temu, SHEIN and Miravia entered the US and European markets, they have created a storm on social media with the "killer weapon" of "discounts". At the beginning of its launch, Temu's monthly user base in the UK quickly grew to around 3.5 million; the number of downloads last month exceeded 7.64 million. And SHEIN's user growth in the UK this year has doubled in the first half of the year, reaching 2 million.

SHEIN is the most popular clothing platform among young people. The platform's super discounts, low prices and rapidly iterated clothing styles allow it to compete with European veteran platforms Primark and Zara . Temu, launched this year, quickly became the most downloaded application, with millions of downloads exceeding TikTok, followed by SHEIN and Miravia.

 

SHEIN offers a 25% discount and a gift to welcome users, Temu offers a 40% to 85% discount on products, and Miravia offers a 20% discount. In addition, there are limited-time flash sales, during which the discount on products can be as high as 75%.

 

Consumers are first attracted by these "discounts" on social media , and after registration, they are constantly offered discount codes and tempting limited-time sales. With these small "stimuli" that are constantly coming, the platform constantly stimulates consumers' shopping desires, allowing the platform to quickly gain a foothold here, which is also the key to the platform's success.

 

Not only in the UK market, from December 2022 to March 2023, Temu's unique visitors in the United States increased from 44.5 million to 70.5 million, while SHEIN's visitors increased from 6 million to 41 million. In the global market, the total number of SHEIN and Temu users worldwide has reached 110 million, an increase of 2.6 times in one year.
