Wal-Mart proposes new rules for price cuts

It is reported that Walmart recently plans to introduce a new regulation to restrict sellers who use discounts for marketing.

Walmart said that in order to improve the buyer's shopping experience during the promotional season and fulfill its "everyday low price" promise to customers, it will update relevant regulations, and the requirements for sellers to obtain "price reduction" or "clearance" labels will change.

Walmart also provided the following information to explain what changes are coming next month:

The "original price" of a product will be determined based on the historical sales price of the product, which can be divided into two situations:

The average price that customers paid for this product in the past 90 days (excluding limited-time offers and other promotional prices).

The average list price that Walmart or sellers have charged for this product over the past 90 days (excluding limited-time offers and other promotional prices).

Walmart further explained:

Sellers must submit a sale price that is at least 10% lower than the ‘original price’ in order to receive a ‘price reduction’ or ‘clearance’ tag.

"If a seller submits a price update and the new price is lower than the 'original price', it will automatically get a strike-through mark."

Obviously, a strike-through mark will attract consumers' attention because it means the product is reduced in price.

Walmart also provides merchants with advice on pricing strategies and encourages sellers to hold special events on the Walmart platform or reduce the prices of their best-selling products during the shopping season to achieve the best promotional effects.
