eBay to offer protection to sellers affected by Royal Mail strike

According to foreign media reports, the Royal Mail in the UK may launch an eight-day strike in the next few months.

In response to this situation, eBay recently announced that it will expand its seller protection policy to protect merchants affected by this.

eBay said in a statement: "The Communications Union is calling on Royal Mail employees to take industrial action on Friday 26 and Wednesday 31 August 2022 and Thursday 8 and 9 September 2022."

There is both bad news and good news for sellers. The bad news is that the postal workers' strike may continue for some time, as more strikes over working conditions are expected to follow.

The good news is that sellers on the eBay platform will be protected accordingly. Sellers can also choose other logistics companies to ship during the strike, such as Evri, Yodel, UPS and Fedex.

eBay's Seller Protection Policy:

eBay will automatically resolve issues with sellers’ orders between Monday, August 22 and Monday, September 18:

The seller's late shipment rate will not be affected, and orders with an estimated delivery date within the above time period will not be included in the seller's assessment.

eBay will also automatically remove counts for “Product Not Received” complaints from sellers’ Service Metrics dashboard.

During this period, any negative or neutral reviews related to delays or non-delivery will also be deleted by the platform.

Sellers using the Royal Mail service need to pay attention to the following points:

1. There will be very few outlets that can collect packages during the strike.

2. There will be no pickup service during the strike period.

3. Packages sent before, during and after the strike days will be delayed.

4. Royal Mail's customer service feedback time will also be longer during the strike.

What should sellers do?

If the seller has already used other logistics providers, it is recommended to continue using this logistics provider for shipment during the strike and contact them in advance to inform them of the expected shipment volume.

If any seller has been using Royal Mail, it is recommended that you consider switching to other logistics providers during this special period.

If the seller purchases the express label by himself, remember to upload the logistics order number to the order details. This will allow the buyer to follow up on the logistics situation in a timely manner and better protect the seller's rights and interests when delays occur.
