The company said in a news release that the percentage willing to pay a premium for quality has been rising steadily since 2011 , when only 45% said they would choose price over quality, the data showed .
Cotton Incorporated is a nonprofit organization funded by U.S. cotton growers that reports to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Cotton Council, which evaluates products from producers and importers .
The survey also revealed that the majority of consumers ( 62%) believe that fiber content plays a role in determining the “lifespan” of their clothing . According to the 2020 Global Durability Study by Cotton Council International and Cotton Incorporated , the majority of consumers (69%) expect cotton to last longer than man-made fibers, and 29% expect cotton to last more than a year longer than clothing made from synthetic fibers.
Therefore, when consumers buy clothes, cotton clothing will be given priority consideration and is more popular among consumers. A further comparison with synthetic fibre clothing showed that 84 % of people thought these materials were the most comfortable and softest . 72% thought these products were of the highest quality and 56% thought cotton products lasted the longest.
