Non-Amazon Marketplaces Offer New Possibilities for Cross-Border E-Commerce Sellers

Non-Amazon Marketplaces Offer New Possibilities for Cross-Border E-Commerce Sellers

Here is a summary of some off-Amazon marketplaces that may offer more possibilities for sellers .

Walmart Walmart ’s e-commerce sales grew 11% year over year in fiscal 2022, a staggering 90% increase from two years ago . While some of the platform’s newer sellers report mixed results, its commitment to continued e-commerce expansion is growing rapidly and is a cheaper place to acquire customers than Amazon.

Target Target has grown its online sales by $13 billion over the past two years . Target’s marketplace has been operating on an invitation-only basis since its launch in 2019. It currently has only 250,000 sellers, adding 12 per month. When ( if ) the doors to one of the most visited e-commerce sites in the U.S. fully open, sellers should jump at the chance to get in on the action.

Ankorstore dubbed Europe’s anti-Amazon marketplace — was launched in 2019 and has more than 200,000 independent sellers and 15,000 brands across 23 EU countries.

Ankorstore became the second French startup to be valued at over $1 billion in 2022. Ankorstore's model is different: "The marketplace platform connects independent brands and designers with registered retailers, florists, coffee shops and other concept stores across Europe, enabling them to sell a wider variety of inventory that cannot be found on major e-commerce sites or large retail chains."

Oojeez A newer marketplace that positions itself as a friendlier place to sell, Oojeez is a small marketplace that positions itself as an example of an alternative to Amazon. The platform offers access to “160 million new mobile consumers in Europe and around the world.”

Kryptonect - This startup plans to open the "Amazon of blockchain" on the Binance Smart Chain and allow anonymous cryptocurrency payments. Although it has not yet launched, more blockchain-based marketplaces may emerge in the future as the technology is adopted by more people - once they do, credit card transaction fees will become a thing of the past.

As e-commerce and online marketplaces continue to grow, sellers will have more and more opportunities to find their balance point for maximum profit with minimal competition . Whether selling on retail giants like Walmart, building your own website, or jumping on the latest blockchain startup market, the future of third-party e-commerce retailers remains bright.
