Russian e-commerce platform Wildberries has cancelled storage fees for sellers.
Under the influence of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, cargo transportation has been blocked and freight costs have risen, increasing the pressure on local sellers and consumers. Recently, the Russian e-commerce platform Wildberries announced that it would cancel the storage fees for sellers to help sellers reduce logistics costs and curb the rise in commodity prices.
The cancellation of storage fees will start from March 7 and is currently valid for one month. Whether the period will be extended will be decided by the company later based on the situation. As the largest local e-commerce platform, Wildberries has a total storage area of more than 1 million square meters, the largest of which are located in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, and Krasnodar region.
Wildberries also provided a series of subsidies earlier . From March 1 to March 10 is the platform's International Women's Day promotion. Wildberries also said that it invested 7.2 billion rubles to provide discounts to sellers. For sellers who did not participate in the holiday promotion, the commission change would also be cancelled.
In addition, Wildberries has also cancelled the receiving fees for warehouses in Koledino and Podolsk, as well as reduced logistics tariffs and logistics discounts for some warehouses.
In addition to Wildberries , Ozon , the second largest local e-commerce platform, also provides a series of support measures for sellers. Sellers are in particular need of funds to pay suppliers and contractors in a timely manner. Ozon will transfer money to merchants faster than usual. Transfers in the first half of March 2022 will be made before March 18, 22, and 25, not just March 25.
It is reported that due to the sanctions, many companies announced plans to stop shipping products to Russian territory. In addition to the depreciation of the ruble, local shopping demand is also extremely strong. According to local media reports, prices of many products have begun to rise, especially electronic products, the increase is more obvious.
When sellers' costs rise, product prices will also rise. The series of subsidies provided by various e-commerce platforms to sellers can not only reduce sellers' cost pressures, but can also curb price increases accordingly, alleviating the living burden of local residents to a certain extent.
