For years, retailers and logistics companies in the supply chain have been struggling to meet consumers ' soaring demand for home delivery services . However, a recent survey by regional e-commerce parcel operator LaserShip shows that online consumers prefer to pay for faster logistics services .
LaserShip commissioned Hanover Research to survey more than 3,000 consumers to understand how their shopping behaviors and preferences have evolved since the start of the pandemic .
According to LaserShip , nearly 60% of shoppers surveyed have paid for faster logistics services, and 69% of them have paid more for next-day delivery . This partly reflects the impact of the epidemic on shopping behavior. In a June 2020 survey , 62 % of respondents said they had never paid for expedited delivery .
LaserShip 's survey results also show that consumers still overwhelmingly prefer home delivery to buy online, pickup in-store ( BOPIS ) and other forms of shopping . 89% of consumers surveyed prefer home delivery to BOPIS , an increase of nearly 10% from 2020 .
Moreover, these consumers surveyed said that they prefer retailers that can provide home delivery services when shopping online .
LaserShip said slow logistics will severely impact retailers’ online business, with 73% of consumers considering fast delivery as a key criterion for online shopping , an increase of 16% from 2020 .
Consumers prefer retailers who can deliver goods quickly . In 2021 alone , 64 % of consumers refused to try new retailers due to slow logistics, and 54 % of consumers changed retailers as a result .
In this regard, Josh Dinneen, Chief Commercial Officer of LaserShip , said that the epidemic has increased shoppers' preference and dependence on free and fast home delivery services . Retailers should build flexible and resilient supply chains to meet consumers' shopping expectations and respond to consumers ' changing shopping behaviors to attract more customers and increase user loyalty to the brand . operations Cross-border e-commerce market epidemic Shopping behavior |
