From the current perspective, there are two reasons why sellers are selling themselves one after another. The other is that due to the massive influx of capital, fierce competition has driven acquisition prices to continue to rise. As we all know, the acquisition price in the market is generally priced at 3 to 5 times the annual gross profit, but according to feedback, it has risen to 6 times the annual gross profit in the fourth quarter of 2021. In other words, if a seller has a sales volume of 10 million a year and a gross profit margin of 20%, the annual gross profit will be 2 million, and 6 times the annual gross profit will be 12 million. Without considering the growth factor, it is equivalent to getting the gross profit income for the next 6 years.

 

Under the suppression of the market and the stimulation of capital, sellers have said that it is better to take the money and leave Amazon, this sad place, as soon as possible.

Marketplace Pulse data shows that in January 2021, Chinese sellers accounted for 75% of Amazon's new sellers, a significant increase from 47% in 2020.

 

In fact, the proportion of Chinese sellers among Amazon's global sellers has been increasing in recent years, and it soared sharply from last year to early 2021.

 

Data shows that the GMV share maintained a similar trend, increasing from 16% to 22% in 2017, from 23% to 26% in 2018, from 26% to 33% in 2019, and from 35% to 42% in 2020.

 

According to a report released by Marketplace, 62% of Amazon's global GMV in 2020 came from third-party sellers, higher than 60% in 2019 and 58% in 2018.

 

Based on this, many acquisition companies turned their attention to Chinese sellers as soon as they obtained financing.

 

Of the 89 active Amazon brand acquisition companies, 46 have announced funding, with 29 raising at least $100 million, Marketplace said.

Max Firsov said that in the online market, traditional consumer goods companies are losing share and being replaced by emerging brands that offer high quality and low prices. Accel Club will provide different operating methods for these two types of merchants through its expertise in operations, supply chain and marketing to help them build their online businesses.

 

It is understood that Accel Club is expected to complete more than 50 transactions by the end of the year . Now, in order to better connect with Chinese sellers, it also plans to set up an office in China.

 

The scale, growth and profit of sellers are the three main indicators for Accel Club to decide on the track and brand to be acquired. As for the acquisition price that sellers care about, Accel Club said it will acquire brands at a higher price than its competitors and with a larger proportion of cash. The specific operation is to adopt the "profit + growth dividend" method. It is worth noting that unlike some competitors who determine dividends based on profits and sellers, thus blurring the brand's value indicators, Accel Club calculates dividends based on revenue.
