Recently, a list released by mobile data and analytics provider App Annie showed that globally, on Christmas Day, TikTok ranked first in global iOS App Store and Google Play application downloads , with Instagram and Facebook also ranking in the top three .

 

Shopee ranked eighth and was the highest-ranked shopping app in the world, driven by markets such as India, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.


 


In the United States, Oculus ranked first in downloads . This is because many Americans received Oculus virtual reality (VR) headsets on this day. YouTube ranked second, and TikTok ranked third.

 

In the UK, the NHS App ranked first . App Annie said this was because consumers tried to access their COVIDPass to get vaccination or test results while traveling on holiday . TikTok ranked second.

 

App Annie also compiled a spending list. In terms of app spending, consumers spent the most on TikTok on Christmas Day, mostly on live shopping. This pushed TikTok to the top of the global non-game app spending list. Similarly, in the US and UK lists, although TikTok did not rank first, it was also in the top five.
