According to market research firm NPD, sales of smart home products in the United States increased by 21% from January to November this year compared with the same period last year. Security camera sales continued to maintain strong momentum, with sales increasing by 13% year-on-year. At the same time, sales of smart power and smart lighting devices also increased, each increasing by 41%.

 

The latest data from NPD shows that sales of smart power devices increased by 18% and sales of smart lighting devices increased by 21% during the holiday period from October 3 to December 11. During the week of Cyber ​​Monday , sales of smart power and smart lighting devices increased by 25% and 27%, respectively .

 

"The holiday season is typically a catalyst for smart home sales as many consumers plan to purchase smart products as gifts," said Ben Arnold, executive director and industry analyst at NPD.

 

Many sellers have also taken a fancy to this track. So, what kind of smart home do consumers like?

 

NPD points out that in addition to safety, consumers now also care about whether the product is convenient, energy-efficient and has a sense of ambience.

 

NPD's survey shows that among consumers who purchase smart power devices, 40% of respondents listed convenience as the main reason for purchase; in terms of smart lighting, 16% said energy saving was their main motivation for purchasing smart lighting products, a proportion that also rose by 4 percentage points; and atmosphere was also listed among the top three purchasing motivations.

 

Ben Arnold noted that while security will always be a key feature in the smart home space, new purchasing motivations will help expand the smart home purchasing group and lead to increased sales of smart home products.

 

Smart home is the general trend, but the market is full of mixed products. Many smart home manufacturers are just selling fake products under the guise of selling fake ones. They just find a factory to produce some low-quality products. Therefore, if sellers want to go further, they need to explore real smart products.
