According to foreign media reports, a report released by logistics company SimpliRoute DataScience shows that the number of daily deliveries in Mexico is expected to increase by more than 70% during this year's Christmas compared to last year.
Figures from the logistics smart start-up project show that more than 690,000 successful deliveries are expected between December 14 and 25 this year, with the daily delivery success rate increasing by 90% compared to 2020 .
SimpliRoute forecasts also show that in the days leading up to Christmas 2020, freight travelled 4,118,536 kilometres, or 152,538 kilometres per day.
Meanwhile, during 2021, a growth of 178.99% driven by multiple online activities was recorded at the end of the year between late November and early December, and they are expected to travel no less than 9,192,355 km in the last mile for parcel delivery between December 14 and 25.
" The number of deliveries expected for Christmas 2021 is expected to double compared to data collected last year, " explained Javiera Morales, data scientist at SimpliRoute.
For businesses, they are increasingly aware of the importance of last-mile delivery in terms of time and efficiency, which can increase customer loyalty and achieve sustained sales levels. This is confirmed by the number of vehicles using Simpliroute technology in Mexico between 2020 and 2021.
There were approximately 2,796 vehicles between late November and early December last year , compared to 8,231 vehicles in the same period of 2021, a year-on-year increase of 429%.
Based on these data, it is estimated that between December 14 and 25, approximately 6,585 vehicles will use logistics intelligence to optimize routes to ensure smooth online shopping during Christmas.
The CEO of logistics company SimpliRoute said that with the explosion of e-commerce, stores have proven in practice the importance of last-mile delivery. “Developments in data processing and artificial intelligence can optimize up to 30% of the total logistics costs associated with delivery, save up to 80% of the time people spend planning routes, and will also reduce the amount of delivery required by these fleets by 10% for customers .” North America Christmas Season Shopping boom Order volume growth |
