Wish France appeal dismissed

Wish France appeal dismissed

During the Christmas season, sellers are worried about how to place orders. Wish has not been lifted since it was blocked by France last month. Under this situation, Wish did not sit idly by and appealed to France. Recently, the appeal was rejected.

Wish defended itself by citing the "enterprise freedom guaranteed by Article 4 of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen", but instead the Administrative Court ruled that the law provides "sufficient safeguards to ensure a balance between the interests of consumer protection and the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution", which the court believed was based on protecting consumer rights.

The judge also stressed that the DGCCRF's order to cancel the search was completely legal , that Wish had not shown that it had complied with Bercy's injunction to ensure better safety of the products it sells , and that if the sanctions were not enough, the French government could completely ban the platform on its territory . In response to this ruling, Wish said it would appeal to the Council of State .

It is reported that the local DGCCRF (Directorate General of Consumer Rights and Fraud Control) conducted a safety investigation on the products on the Wish platform. The results showed that a large number of products were non-compliant and even had safety hazards. In addition, these problematic products appeared under different brands, which deceived consumers.

In July , the DGCCRF gave Wish two months to fulfill its obligations and rectify its platform, but it failed to do so, leading the government to order Wish to be removed from search engines and app stores .

Being blocked across the French Internet during the peak season is also a big loss for Wish. We still have to wait and see what the Council of State decides, but if it still follows the original decision, Wish will surely suffer a heavy blow in the French market in the future.

Wish has been experiencing constant turmoil in recent times , with frequent changes in senior management, declining revenue, falling stock prices, user loss, etc. Sellers in the group have also been complaining about the platform.

But Wish is also constantly trying to retain sellers and users, so we can only wait and see what the future development will be.
