Today, Amazon released a new announcement, disclosing the work results of its Counterfeit Crime Unit (CCU) over the past year .
Amazon said that the platform has a responsibility to protect consumers, brands and stores from counterfeit products. The platform will provide a trustworthy shopping experience by investing a lot of resources in anti-counterfeiting technology and establishing partnerships with brands. According to data, less than 0.01% of the products sold on Amazon last year received counterfeit complaints from customers.
Amazon is currently celebrating the one-year anniversary of its Counterfeit Crimes Unit ( CCU), a global team of former prosecutors, former FBI agents, experienced investigators, and data analysts who track down targets around the world and help law enforcement bring counterfeiters on the platform to justice.
Subsequently, Amazon announced the results of CCU's anti-counterfeiting work this year: 1. Provided in-depth recommendations and evidence on over 250 counterfeiters for criminal investigations in the EU, UK, US and China
2. Civil lawsuits filed against 64 counterfeiters
3. Disrupting counterfeiters and their supply networks through civil litigation, as well as joint law enforcement actions and seizures around the world, including targeting suppliers, logistics providers, social media influencers, fake invoice providers, identity fraudsters, and website spoofers.
4. Work with brands including GoPro, Valentino, and Salvatore Ferragamo to combat counterfeiters
Although Amazon believes that the platform has made significant progress in combating counterfeiting, sellers are not convinced.
Seller A: While we appreciate Amazon's efforts to address bad actors from the supplier side, the number of bad customers is still huge, which can greatly affect the viability and business of 3p suppliers. Many may argue that fraud has become worse over the past year, but there has been little relief.
Seller B: Amazon sells far more counterfeits than any other marketplace. If Amazon really wanted to, they could easily stop counterfeit abuse. If Amazon were held liable for damages caused by counterfeit goods sold on their marketplace, Amazon would remove the counterfeits within a day!
Seller C: In competition with the automated repricer, counterfeit products drive down the prices of real products on Amazon. Counterfeit products keep real prices on Amazon low. Amazon makes too much money on counterfeit sales to stop it.
In addition, many foreign sellers have reported that Chinese sellers are abusing counterfeit goods. The editor would like to remind sellers to abide by the platform rules and not to cause unpredictable losses for the sake of temporary benefits. Amazon Seller Fighting against counterfeiting |
