Heavy rain and flash floods have severely paralyzed the logistics at Port Klang!

According to foreign media reports, Malaysia has suffered severe heavy rainfall recently. The Port Klang Authority said that local heavy rains and mountain torrents have seriously affected the port operations of Port Klang North Port, West Port and South Port Terminals.

In addition, the Port Klang Authority also stated in a statement that warehouses and empty container yards in the surrounding areas were flooded, and port and logistics operators were unable to go to work due to the bad weather. Port operations were severely affected. The heavy rain also caused damage to the channel, and the port operation conditions further deteriorated.

In addition, container and cargo transportation in and out of the port is also expected to be severely affected, and port deliveries will be delayed in the next few days. More ships are expected to arrive in the next few days, but due to bad weather, the berthing of ships will be forced to be postponed, and the backlog of ships in the outer anchorage will increase.

It is understood that the Port Klang Authority is currently working closely with port and logistics operators to optimize available resources, give priority to the delivery of necessities, especially food, medical supplies and refrigerated items, and will do everything possible to ensure the continuity of port and logistics operations.

The Port Klang Authority said terminal operators, freight forwarders, transport companies and government agencies involved in cargo clearance should come together to assist and ensure that goods can reach markets during this difficult period, minimising the desperation faced by an already angry public in the face of the pandemic .

The editor also reminds relevant sellers and freight forwarders to always pay attention to the local flood situation. For delayed orders, please communicate with buyers in a timely manner and patiently explain the logistics delays. And adjust the country's logistics delivery arrangements to reduce losses.

The Port Klang Authority said patience should be maintained during this difficult period and urged the port and logistics community to provide the required assistance to the local communities affected by the floods and to overcome these challenges together.
