The number of Shopee sellers has doubled! The Malaysian market is booming

According to foreign media reports, with the increasing participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the digital economy , coupled with the increasing dependence of consumers on e-commerce during the epidemic, the number of online sellers on Shopee has more than doubled this year .

It is reported that the 80 local sellers who joined Shopee in 2021 achieved sales of more than RM1 million by selling mobile phones and accessories, home and living, health and beauty products, etc.

S hopee’s Chief Operating Officer said that as the platform ends in 2021 and Malaysians are about to usher in another new year to adapt to the current pandemic situation , it is now more important than ever for businesses to go online to attract more online-first customers.

He also said that this year has seen more local traders and sellers taking their first step online, as well as sellers’ journey of collaboration with the platform .

The sellers’ achievements also demonstrate the ability of e-commerce to create inclusive and sustainable livelihoods in a challenging business environment. S hopee said he will continue to work hard to help more local SMEs benefit from technology and enter the digital economy.

To thank sellers, Shopee has also launched more regional campaigns such as the #ShopeeSapotLokal initiative and the “Seller of the Month” competition.

Through this initiative, traders can share their journey as Shopee sellers on social media . Winners of the competition will also benefit from Shopee live streaming features, store coupons, Shopee advertising credits and exclusive merchandise.

Other activities include the year-end 12.12 promotion offering free delivery vouchers to shoppers and the Spin&Win lucky draw with a grand prize of a Hyundai Kona.

Every 12.12 Sale, Shopee celebrates the milestones and achievements of the past year with shoppers, sellers and the local community.

Shopee has also partnered with 12 non-governmental organisations and social enterprises, including Budimas Charity Foundation, Hope Malaysia Welfare Association, Islamic Aid Malaysia and MyKasih Foundation, to launch a donation campaign for the community through #ShopeeGivesBack.

All proceeds from the initiative will go towards providing necessities such as clean water, food and other basic amenities to local rural and underprivileged communities.
