Wildberries’ popularity index in the Russian e-commerce market is 83%.

With the onset of the epidemic in the spring of 2020 , online shopping demand in Moscow and St. Petersburg increased nearly tenfold . Nearly 58.2% of Russians choose to buy online on Double 11, 37.2% will buy both online and offline, and only 4.6% of respondents prefer to buy in regular offline stores . Online shopping is becoming more and more popular .

 

72% of respondents said that the main advantage of shopping online at home is saving time and energy , with most of the time being spent on selecting and comparing products.

 

Looking at the Double 11 in Russia this year , sales on major e-commerce platforms are growing, up 41% overall compared to November 11 last year and 79% compared to 2019. Compared to November 10 this year , it increased by 220%.

 

According to Romir's research on e-commerce platforms, Wildberries became the market leader , with an awareness index of 83% among Russians in 2021. Ozon Express ranked second in popularity among online shoppers (75%), SberMarket ranked third (72%). In fourth place was Yandex.Market (71%) , and Delivery Club ranked fifth with a large advantage (55%) .

 

On the day of the 11.11 promotion , Ozon Marketplace’s turnover was more modest, reaching 6.1 billion rubles, but this was almost five times higher than a year ago. Meanwhile, local new platforms also saw a sales climax, with 273,000 orders generated on November 11 through the Detsky Mir online platform and marketplace for a total of 570 million rubles, 63% higher than last year’s event.

 

Major e-commerce platforms are also constantly increasing their investment. Wildberries opened a new center in Nevinnomyssk this week and will continue to open more distribution centers across the country in the future.

 

Ozon plans to launch fast delivery of products in the near future, planning to launch a new delivery model for groceries and other goods within 15 minutes by the end of 2021. In this way, the online retailer will mainly deliver food, ready-made food, private label products and non-food products.

 

In addition to the Double 11 that has passed , Russia will have other promotional activities in the future, and relevant sellers must seize the opportunity in time.
