In order to let French consumers have their own shopping carnival and to let the world feel the vigorous vitality of the French e-commerce industry, Cdiscount e-commerce platform launched the French Days shopping festival in 2018.

 

French Days is generally held twice a year. This year, the spring version of French Days was held from May 27 to June 2, and the fall back-to-school version was held from September 24 to 27.

 

Initially, French Days was jointly organized by five major e-commerce platforms, including France's largest fashion e-commerce La Redoute , French home appliance chain Boulanger, Europe's third largest omnicanal retailer Fnac-Darty , French local e-commerce Rue du commerce, and French fashion shopping website Showroom privé .

 

Now, as French Days continues to gain popularity, Amazon is now participating in addition to many local online retailers in France .

 

This year, the global epidemic has been relatively alleviated. In order to stimulate consumption , French Days offers even greater discounts . For example, Currentbody Mall beauty equipment has discounts as low as 30% off, which has attracted the attention of many female consumers.

 

In this year's event, e-commerce platform Fnac has significantly reduced the prices of products such as 4K TVs, smartphones and tablets. However, the most popular product among consumers is Xiaomi's small electric car.

  

French Days is the last promotional period before Black Friday. In order to clear out the old inventory, many retailers will sell goods at low prices to make room for Christmas and Black Friday. During the promotion, buyers can buy highly discounted electronic products, home appliances, clothing, fashion products and furniture.

 

Since Black Friday is not held until the last weekend of November, many French people will also pay attention to French Days and consider buying the products they need in advance. According to data, the e-commerce sales generated by French Days have been rising year by year in the four years since it was held in 2018.

 

French cross-border e-commerce platform Rakuten mentioned in its 2021 report that before the pandemic, most French consumers preferred offline shopping, but after the pandemic, this group of consumers supported France's consumer economy through e-commerce consumption. Compared with the single-digit growth from 2015 to 2019, French B2C e-commerce grew by 29% in 2020. More and more consumers have developed the habit of online shopping.

 

According to a previous survey by Statista, clothing is the most popular online shopping product among consumers, with 58% of Internet users in France having purchased clothing online, while travel and tourism accounted for 40%, and footwear, games and toys accounted for 39%.

 

France has the third largest population in Europe and is also the second largest e-commerce market in Europe. Given that the French are very keen on online services, the French e-commerce market also has great prospects.
