The new link "killed" Anker and quickly became the first in the Amazon category

A distorted competition is unfolding on Amazon. Recently, there have been many cases of ultra-low price rankings. One new link even became famous overnight. It immediately topped the category and crushed well-known sellers, leaving sellers dumbfounded.

New link " kills " Anker and rushes to the first place in the category

Recently, many new links have been gaining popularity in the rankings. These links often enter the market at super low prices. After being put on the shelves, they quickly rush to the top of the category. Some products are heading directly for the TOP1.

A seller revealed that in the portable power bank category, a new link surpassed the big brother Anker in a very short time and rushed to the first place in the category.

According to the seller, this new link was put on the shelves on September 23, and it directly ranked first in the mobile power category on the first day of its listing. There were no reviews under the link. On the second day, the link's ranking in the category dropped to third place, but it merged more than 100 reviews from different categories.

On the afternoon of September 24, the editor opened the relevant product link and found that this portable power bank product had become unavailable for sale. It ranked 4th in the power bank category , and the first place was still Anker's product. This link also ranked 4th in the mobile phone battery replacement category and 43rd in the mobile phone and accessories category.

When checking the product information, it was found that the link was first listed on July 12, not September 23 as mentioned by the seller.

The editor consulted with an industry professional, who said that the listing time of the link can be modified by the operator. Could it be that the "performance" of rushing to the first place in the category on the first day of listing was too dazzling, so the listing time was changed by the operator?

Regarding the merged review, the link does exist, but the product that was launched this year was reviewed last year. There are more than 100 global ratings below the link, and among the 4 visible reviews, 2 were reviewed in September and November 2020, and 1 was reviewed in May 2021. One of the reviews from last year has a picture, and the product in the picture is obviously inconsistent with the linked product.

In addition to merging comments, another cool way to quickly become the number one in the category is to offer super low discounts. One seller discovered that when this link was available for sale, it was discounted by 99%, which was equivalent to giving it away for free.

Super low discounts to boost rankings, coupled with other illegal operations, caused this link to fall from the peak to the bottom in a short period of time, and the product became unsellable. The previous fierce operations seemed to have become useless.

Recently, it is not uncommon to see products that rush to the top of the rankings at super low prices, like this link. For example, the top product in a certain category is fully discounted, with 60% off outside the site, 20% coupons and 30% promotional coupons inside the site, which is equivalent to a 0-yuan purchase; in another category, a product that was launched on September 7, 2021, has rushed to the 15th place in the category in more than two weeks.

This problem of quickly raising rankings at ultra-low prices is happening in multiple categories on Amazon, not only in the United States, but also in Europe, Japan and other global sites.

With absolute price advantages and illegal operations, they quickly rushed to the best-selling list, and some even directly took the first place on the best-selling list, which disgusted many sellers. An industry insider bluntly said that this is naked internal circulation, and the price spiral was also caused by this group of people. They used their own losses to exchange for a high link ranking, first to maintain their advantages, and tried to outlast their peers with the power of capital.

Currently, the price competition among Amazon sellers is already in a distorted state. The operations of selling at a loss and outlasting their competitors will inevitably backfire. The ones who will have the last laugh will definitely be the compliant sellers who make products with care.

Under the power restriction order, calls for price increases have re-emerged

If the cost pressure brought to sellers by the previous sky-high shipping and advertising fees could still be barely bearable, then the power rationing order may be the last straw, and the sellers' purchase costs will also increase afterwards.

Recently, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Anhui, Yunnan, Shandong, Liaoning and other places have introduced power rationing measures. The huge impact caused by the power rationing order and the reasons behind it have become a hot topic.

This Thursday, a supplier in Shenzhen received a text message from the Power Supply Bureau: "... ( Friday, September 24, 2021 ) The city's electricity consumption warning signal is (orange), and there is a large gap in electricity supply. Please take the initiative to stop production arrangements during the off-peak power consumption period (08:00-23:00) ( Friday, September 24, 2021), and only retain the security load power consumption not exceeding 15% of the total load. If you refuse to implement orderly power consumption, our bureau may take compulsory measures..."

The next day, the manufacturer received another text message reminder, "The system has detected that the power load of your line has not decreased. Please take the initiative to stop production arrangements. If the line load does not decrease within 30 minutes, our bureau will take compulsory power-off measures on the line." The power consumption restrictions are clear.

Last Saturday, factories in Huizhou, Dongguan and other places received local power supply notices. The industrial parks were restricted to power for 2-3 days a week , and basically implemented a power supply plan of "on four days, off three days". In different regions, stricter power restrictions such as on one day and off six days are taking place. "We were just notified that the power outage will start today and will last until the end of the month. Only large taxpayers can apply for exemption from the power outage." said a supplier.

Due to large-scale power rationing, the production of steel, nonferrous metals, chemicals, textiles and other industries in many places was affected to a certain extent, and they were forced to reduce or stop production. Raw material factories and processing factories were all affected, and the impact was quickly transmitted to cross-border e-commerce sellers.

A supplier said that most products have increased in price, and that orders need to be reconfirmed. Factories are also reminding customers to prepare stocks in advance. A supplier said that a six-day industrial power outage is about to begin , and whether there will be stock will become a problem. The first person to order the factory's existing stock will get it first.

In addition to the increase in purchase prices, sellers are also facing the problem of delayed delivery. "The supplier has power cuts, so the delivery date will be delayed by another 10 days." A seller was a little helpless. As power cuts continue, there will be more delayed deliveries.

Some sellers analyzed the situation since the outbreak of the epidemic last year: resumption of work and production → huge increase in orders → mass production → spiral strategy → involution, but now raw materials have risen sharply → freight rates have risen sharply → loss-making charity → open 2 and stop 5, and concluded that "it's time for price increase". All costs have turned red, and sellers who are in a dilemma have read a signal from the power restriction news: Is it time for price increase?

This may be one of the purposes of the power restriction order. Some netizens analyzed that there are several reasons for the peak power restriction:

First, energy conservation and emission reduction;

Second, control the pace. Currently, most of the global demand is met by Chinese manufacturing, but this is not due to an increase in demand, but rather to the fact that foreign countries cannot start work. After this wave of the epidemic, China's production capacity may be seriously oversupplied. The power restriction is intended to slow down the pace, prevent the expansion of production capacity, and prevent too much inventory from being accumulated;

Third, the prices of imported chips and materials have all increased, but the prices of exported finished products cannot go up. If productivity declines, demand decreases, and exports decrease, the prices of imported materials will drop. Therefore, the prices of exported finished products must accept the increase.
