To help sellers obtain trademarks, protect their brands and deal with product infringement issues more easily and at a lower cost on the Amazon platform and in international markets, Amazon Singapore announced the launch of the Amazon Intellectual Property Accelerator on August 26.
Through this service, sellers can directly contact some Singapore law firms, enjoy preferential prices agreed in advance between these law firms and Amazon, and obtain professional legal advice and general advice on intellectual property rights. The cost of self-consultation may be very high, or it may be difficult to find a suitable consulting agency.
Law firms currently participating in the service include Ella Cheong LLC, Viering, Jentschura & Partner, Francine Tan Law Corporate and Tan Peng Chin LLC.
In addition, Amazon will protect brands that use the Intellectual Property Accelerator. Sellers can use Amazon's brand protection feature to prevent some infringements months or even years before the trademark is officially registered.
Regarding the charging issue of the intellectual property accelerator, Amazon said that any seller can use it for free and sellers only need to pay the relevant fees with the law firm.
Bernard Tay, head of global sales for Southeast Asia , said that protecting intellectual property rights is crucial for companies, especially those committed to going global. In Singapore, many small and medium-sized enterprises have already settled on the Amazon platform. This service will lay the foundation for their long-term development by protecting the intellectual property rights of enterprises.
For many small and medium-sized sellers, their financial resources are limited, and they cannot hire good lawyers to protect their rights when they encounter infringement and counterfeit products. Amazon launched the Intellectual Property Accelerator to build a communication bridge between reliable law firms and sellers, which is of great significance to small and medium-sized sellers.
The IP Accelerator was launched in the US in 2019 and has since expanded to Europe, Japan, Canada, Mexico, India and now Singapore. To date, the service has secured over 500,000 brands. Amazon Singapore Intellectual Property Accelerator |
